Minneapolis

Going to Minneapolis this summer for 10 days, 9-19 july.

Thinking of bringing my bike, but considering buying a new one while I'm in the US. Any good shops around?

Might even try and sign up for the Lifetime (style) Tri that apparently is on the 14th.

Definitely try and do Lifetime if you're gonna be here anyways, or, at the least, come watch it. If you're looking for a place to buy a tri bike, you'd want to check out Gear West which is maybe 20 minutes west of Minneapolis. The just remodeled/expanded and should be even better than before. If you're looking for a road bike, there are several good shops around depending on what you might be looking for.

Not meaning to hijack the thread...........any decent group rides / or good routes around? Ill be in Prior Lake for about 45 days before I deploy and want to get some decent rides and runs in being I wont be able to do much of it for the next 15 months. I know the roads around PL fairly well being I grew up there but not sure of the cycling/tri scenes around that area. Thanks

Lifetime is a great race, otherwise there is another one relatively close to town (an hour drive out) called Heart of the Lakes. You can check out http://www.midwestevents.com/...rl=0&GO=tri_page for a race schedule.

jase714- what kind of rides are you interested in? There are some good roadie-type group rides around and some that are more tri-friends... depends on your speed too. One of the better tri rides is one organized through Gear West - http://gearwestbike.com/page.cfm?PageID=37
A bit of a drive from Prior Lake, but not too bad. If you want more contants for other rides or info, PM me.

I second Uncle Phil on using Gear West for your tri needs. Their website is www.gearwestbike.com. They carry QRoo, Litespeed, Kuota, Cervelo, Felt, and Trek and all the tri goodies you could want.

I haven't done the Lifetime triathlon (July 14), and there is no way I will pay $135 to try it out. I don't care how many pros are in it or that its on TV, it aint worth $135. You can do a high quality race on the same weekend - Heart of Lakes (July 15) - for only $70. Good luck.

"for only $70" :) Seems like a bargain when compared to lifetime!
