Mechanic geeks - BB size / compatibility
Upgrading my cranks on my CX bike and probably will get a 110mm set-up, probably the FSA SLK Cross. Not sure yet.

I have DA 7800 on my road bike and would like to use a compact in (1) event next year.

Does the FSA SLK 110 fit/work on a DA 7800 bottom bracket? Sure would be nice just to swap out cranks and not BBs. The other option is to buy an Ultegra compact for CX.....which I would be swappable, but haven't check the tech manual.

thanks

FSA cranks...new ones that is, will only work with an ISIS BB or their own BB, whatever that is called...mega XO or something. Those should come with the crank. You won't have to use your DA BB with it.

Why not?

Do you have the tech manuals and measurements or have you tried to mix/match Shimano external and FSA external parts?

Well...take this for what it is, but this is straight from their website:

Are MegaExo cranks cross-compatible with outboard bearing standards of other manufactures?

Our cranks, bearing cups, and spacers are designed to work together. We cannot advise using our components with other manufacturer’s cranks and/or cupsets. Should you need replacement cups or small parts these are available through Full Speed Ahead or your local dealer or on-line retailer.

Were it my bike, i would try it. Were it a customer's bike, no way.

You could always go with the Ultegra compacts, then it wouldn't be an issue.

Right...but they aren't sexy carbon and I'm limited in chainring sizes/availability.

I've used this set up, but must concur with FSA that their BB is the best choice for their cranks.

You can use any 110mm BCD chainrings w/ R-600 compact cranks from ShimaNO.
