I think the racing will be a lot closer and more exciting then Island House with all these short course guys. I would like to see Island House implement some longer stuff to give the long course guys a competitive chance. The schedule also works out well for the ITU guys as this event is 2 weeks prior to Gold Coast event. Basically just stay there, train for another 2 weeks and then race ITU.

Tooheys Blue called and asked for their triathlon series back.

And Saint George.

It worked in the 90s. Hope it works again.

I hope so too, it will be live on Fox Sports and a proper series will kick off later in the year including women's division with equal prize money.

Looks like Island House Round 2.

Here's the big difference to Island House - we can (hopefully) watch it: "broadcast live on television, on our digital platforms" - that makes me much more interested.

Wow this looks incredible.

3 days of 8 different rounds with many interesting features. Should be absolute madness.

Women's series to be announced soon. A few of the women included are pregnant and on leave, so it didn't make sense to announce just yet.

He's focused on his swim lessons.

Especially since the 10 min break starts when the round winner crosses the line. That is just going to kill the cannon fodder.

Gonna be really fun to follow! Immediately thought of Malcolm Gladwell in the Forward podcast where he talks about switching the order of the races.

hey, if this is anything like the st.george/ITGP circuit, i'm all in favour. triathlon desperately needs that kind of excitement back again. more like this, i say!

Should be more exciting than Island House. I'd be willing to pay <$10 fee to watch the whole weekend if it's not available free online.

The Eliminator would be a blast to do as an AGer.

It was in a Twitter conversation between Macca and a number of others, both men and women who were asking the same question.

Witsup also covered it:
http://www.witsup.com/...e-triathlon-is-here/

Quote:
With the women’s contracts still in negotiations, and some of the top triathletes not being able to commit to the showcase event, including the likes of Gold and Silver Olympic medalists, Gwen Jorgensen and Nicola Spirig who are currently pregnant, plus the limitations on numbers on Hamilton Island, the women’s racing will unfortunately not be part of the showcase event, but will very much be a part of the series with equal opportunity to earn top dollars.

UPDATED: We have spoken again to the Super League Triathlon crew who have been in discussion with many of the women and their official word is “Women’s championship racing will take part in Season 1! We have some of the world’s leading athletes under LOI and we are looking forward to announcing more details about the women’s championship series in the coming months.”

Just noticed Terenzo Bozzone is racing, should be interesting as he's become a beast lately.

They say it will be on digital platforms, I'm guessing it will be similar to Triathlon TV (ITU), if so it will be great coverage and pretty cheap.

From what I've heard it's a multi million dollar operation to broadcast each itu telecast.

If they can pull off that type of coverage for this event, they have it figured out completely. also means they have big $ big $ backers.

Not saying they don't but itu telecast is a very very expensive endeavor.

As much as I like Terenzo, he will be lucky to make top 10 with the lack of top end speed with all the top ITU guys competing.
