Los Altos Hills, CA swimming
Just finalized a nice ending to summer trip! Been itching to coordinate a trip with pleasure and I'm going to be staying with some friends for a 4 day weekend. Best place to latch on to a fun Masters squad for some swims? I will not have a car so can't be too far as I'm turning the rental in as soon as work is done and play starts. Thanks for any leads.....if I need to narrow down the area more I can do that don't have address yet. Thanks ST!

Darn, too bad you don't have a car. My favorite pool to swim in the world is the Santa Clara International Swim Center. It's about 17 miles from Los Altos Hills.

Failing that, there's a bunch of pools in Mountain View, the google capital/poor country cousin of Los Altos Hills.

I googled LAH pools and a bunch in Mountain View showed up. You can see which is closest to where you'll be.

Good luck!

Aww shoot I have heard of that place, but didn't know it was in the area. Don't know my way around town. I am perusing US Masters to see what I can find. Thanks.

In Mountain View, Eagle pool is good. But, maybe further than some other place you can locate. I'll be in town late next week, likely swim there once or twice (or Stanford, if they allow guests).

I saw this on a white board in a window box at my daughters middle school...

If you want to come up to San Mateo (about 25 minutes north of San Mateo) I can guest pass you to my pool at the San Mateo Athletic Center:

It's a really nice outdoor pool - 50m on weekends, 25yds on weekdays.

They have a masters team if you want to swim with them too, I've heard everyone on it is really nice. Also they have like 25 practices per week or something ridiculous like that so there's pretty much a practice going on any time you'd like to swim.

I might just do that, but we have so much packed into the long weekend I probably have just enough time to do earliest Masters group and get back for breakfast. Don't wanna hold up the tour guide!

If you're going to be in the southern portion of Los Altos Hills, then Fremont High School pool might be closest. It's at 1283 Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road

It really helps to have a car in that area. There's an Enterprise office practically every mile or so on/near El Camino, so you can get a car for ~$35/day.

While you are in the area, in addition to the swims consider the following:

Bike over to Woodside and climb Kings Mtn. Rd. or Old La Honda up to Skyline (great, redwood-lined switchbacks). Descend down 84 to get back (starts right at Alice's Restaurant).

Run the trails at Rancho in Los Altos.

If you're 6'1"ish I am happy to lend you a bike. PM me if you're interested (if you drive stick, I could probably lend you a car too). I live in Menlo Park.

It would be the least I could do from all the swimming advice I have stolen from you over the years.

Well that is mighty gracious of you I truly appreciate it. Oddly I am 6'1" on the button. On a different trip I'd love to bring my bike, but I just don't have time for that this trip. I'd like to meet up for a 5 a.m.(PST since I'm EST....will be going cuckoo by 130am PST as I wake at 430!) Masters swim and be back home by 630-7 as they have some big long days planned for us. But THANK you. And I'm glad some of my swimbabbling might have helped you at some point....just passing along what other people have been nice enough to pass on to me.

Ok well if you're ever back in this neck of the woods wanting to do some climbing in the redwoods, the offer stands. Enjoy your trip and the view of a new black line!
