Odd that nobody seems to be trying to qualify - there is a whole series of qualifying races and based on the number of spots, the odds are much better than Kona.

I thought everyone here on ST was against the lottery! :)


Seriously though, it does seem odd that nobody is looking at the other races. Almost like turning up your nose at all IMs, except for Kona. I'm planning to do Wilmington Whiteface if possible.

Lottery costs $15 and takes minutes. Doing a qualifier costs $ and time. (let's assume I would do equal training either way). It's all a matter of how badly one wants it. I clearly didn't want it more than $15 worth haha

There's a huge geographical gap in the locations of the qualifying races.

I have a buddy that has entered the lottery 3 years running and got rejected again this year.

I'm in, first try. This should be interesting.

For those who get in, did you register as part of a team to try and increase your odds or just as individuals?

Is there anyone here who has not received ANYTHING from the race yet?

Six of us signed up as a team/group whatever you call it.

Four of us got "congrats" notes, but the other two have gotten nothing. (they checked spam folders too) Most importantly, they did not get the "sorry" letter, so we're pretty sure they are in, but some goof/glitch has prevented the confirmation email.

So what I am saying is, if you didn't get anything at all yet, you might still be in good shape. At least I hope so, for my friends and for anyone else's sakes.

I would have the two send an email asking. From what I understood, it's "all or nothing" going in as a group. If ones in, you're all in.
This is my first time even looking closely at this event. I put in for the lottery the day it opened. Kinda forgot about it and agreed to go on a trip to Belize, and as I was paying for everything, I thought " there's no way I'll actually get into Leadville, no way". Let's just say I wasn't overly excited when I got the email. I'm warming up to it, but now trying to figure out how to pay for everything.
