Apparently they voted and approved more taxes for Hotel and other transient rentals.

Geezzz keeps getting worse $$$$$!!!!

As of 1/1/22 County of Hawaii has imposed a 3% tax increase for Transient Accommodations Tax. We are required to collect this additional tax that was not included in your original reservation. You will see an additional payment request for the 3% increase. If interested, we have attached the notice from County of Hawaii. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please pay the additional payment as soon as you can as your stay is right around the corner. How much were the taxes and fees before the increase?

Rent direct from owners instead of going through VRBO or airbnb and you save a bundle.

The State TAT is 10.25%. A portion of that used to go to the counties, but in 2021 the law was changed to allow the counties to institute an additional TAT of up to 3%, and the counties no longer get a share of the State TAT.

Getting to and being at this event has to be almost as expensive as training for it
