Nothing to add directly, but wondering whether DMT have updated the colour scheme of the KT1 as they're looking a bit old. Reviews have all been very positive but hard to take tri-mags seriously.

Is there a reason you're not interested in their triathlon shoe?

They are on sale on a shop nearby.
I can actually choose between the triathlon version with nylon soles or road version with carbon soles. Carbon being a bit cheaper too.

I just got a set of dmt krsl lace shoes on sale with the intention of changing to speed laces. Because it's tongue less I don't need to cut the tongues out of them like Ben Deal and others do with the empires, however I do question whether I could easily do an on the bike mount as the opening is quite small. For 70.3 and IM I think u can slip on pretty quick in transition for shorter I don't think any aero or comfort saving would match time vs flying mount. Haven't tried yet though maybe enough powder and practise and it's fine.

They are a lot more like a running shoe than I expected fit wise, I am coming from bonts and these are the same size no problem with the very stiff sole and very light. I can imagine they will get dirty very quickly as they are a light grey. I'm hoping they will be more aero and a little more comfy but mostly the bonts both the tri riots and the roadbike riot+ all the metal on them rusts out all the time which is kind of frustrating

Ive been riding on a pair of cheap aliexpress velcro's that are really great for fast transitions.

I'll give those DMT's a try, if not good enough for fast transitions, I'll keep then for longer races and training.

Sounds good - here giro is not well distributed so empires very hard to find, there is an sworks or specialised lace shoe too but the dmt is a bit of a work of art when u see it. Doesn't really look like a cycling shoe and feels like a slipper on. Inner sole inside is junk though the empire slx are also lighter supposedly but I don't know for sure as I never saw in person

On sale u can't go wrong. I'm a sucker for on sale. If I could only find a really nice sailing yacht, beachfront condo, poke bowl lifetime supply all 'on sale' my life would be complete!

Sales are the way to go, I can relate with that.

Well, I bought the shoes and gave them a try.
They are very comfortable and easy to get on and take off (off the bike).
It's easy enough to take them off while riding, definitely not a problem for racing triathlons.
Putting them on while on the bike is doable, not hard but also not fast... I would use them for mid-long distance triathlons with no problem.

For short courses, I might stick to my aliexpress pair since I can fly mount with those much easier.

Are u setting up with speed laces of run them as is?

Light right? And the shape seems pretty efficient no buckles boas or big toe box.

I bought the KR3, so they have BOA. But I liked the knit material, it stretches quite a lot and holds the feet in place very well, there's no need to hurry to adjust the BOA. It seems "rideable" even without tightening the BOA, so maybe setting up the KRSL with elastic laces can work...

I'm considering adding a "heel pull tab" to speed up all the process.

It is a lower end shoe with a nylon/fiberglass sole, but tris aren't about putting down 1400W sprints.

I used the DMT KR4's for over a season and liked them but wasn't a huge fan of the plastic sole and flex. As minimal as it was just wasn't a fan like carbon crank arms. There's no way I could have got them on in a flying mount though... I kicked one of the boxes holding the bikes in T1 at Kona 2019 and the dial boa dial flew off. The shoe wasn't quite as firm as I'd like but was fine for the ride. I have gone to the KRSL with elastic laces and really enjoying them. Overall though both were great shoes and the KR3 is a great value shoe.
