You all see the big guy with the P3C / 999 who sat there blocking the way while he slowly put on his helmet and shoes! What a putz

Aero helmet at that. Andd when he went to get on he kicked out the one bottle left in his behind the saddle system (the marshal had to point the other one out back under the gate)! I actually felt a bit sorry for him - for an hour's practice he could have saved himself about $6k worth of time.

"Former Tour de France Telecom rider, Kai Hundertmarck exited the water in 56:26 and is reportedly moving up quickly on the bike course. Wonder if the leaders know or care?"

But can he run?

Sounds like Brown is getting a free (but legal I assume) ride. Tactically, he has this race won already.

I don't know what he's done since, but while still racing as an amateur in Kona '04, he had the 2nd fastest bike behind Stadler (in tough Kona conditions - only 10 guys <5hrs) and managed a 3:21 run:

Obviously pedestrian by Brown's standards, but may play out to be interesting if he bridges to Sinballe.

10m rule down there? Looks like Brown is way off the back of Sindballe. Hard to complain about that.

7m rule, or 7m for Brown. 7m is only 3 bike lengths between Sindballe rear tire and Cam's front tire. Looks like he is double that to me.

It looked the same way for Cameron in Kona, but his run didn't play out - I mean he rode much of the bike at a super low HR.

It does like Joanna is really dropping the hammer on the bike relative to her competition.

I noticed that too. She's not exactly the dark horse here either. Hasn't she won this like 4 years in a row?

Justin -- I think he was referring to the digital clock on the T1 out. Nothing to do with Cam Browns spacing. The digital display looked like a "7" to our American eyes -- I'm assuming the Kiwi's (and others) use the top line on the display for their 1's. It sort of looked like people were coming out of the swim at almost 8 hours into the race, until the hour turned to "2"...

Where's he gone - He seems to be losing time to the leaders as he must now be at least 13 minutes back?

My friend and fellow Tucson Desert Heat Tri Club age-grouper Bill Daniell beat all the pro men out of the water:

"In a surprise finish to the swim, age-grouper William Daniell of the USA came out of Lake Taupo in a time of 46:10, two seconds in front of John Van Wisse. Bell, Sindballe and Brown were 40 seconds behind the leader out of the water."

Go, Bill!

You reckon Cam popped off the back of Sindballe or did he just ease up to pace Luke since he knows Luke is a bigger threat on the run. The latter is my guess.
