That's OK, I heard that next time there is a forest fire, or there is cold weather at Tahoe, WTC will put us all in a hotel in Squaw Valley and we can ride computrainers and ellipticals and go back to the finish line in unison to get the medal at midnight. IV's will be served up during the CT ride and you will also have the option of drafting metal man for the entire 112 miles on the CT. While you are at it, may as well set your weight to 30 kilos on the CT program so the hills feel easier than the real Tahoe course. (pink font optional).

Muncie, Indiana July 15...

It looks it will be Sunny and 79 for his 140.6 trip around Muncie. We start at the only 50m outdoor pool; Tuhey pool, in the area and then ride what we consider bike heaven...a 52 mile paved bike trail; the Cardinal Greenway with the run in and around the community of Muncie and Ball State University. The day will be centered around the pool. Projected 5k is 7pm.

So a great chance to meet and greet, swim/bike/run with him and his crew and a nice easy drive from many places in the Midwest!

Looks like he'll start around 7 or 8am!

Join us if you'd like!

its kind of cool - when while doing one in 4 or 5 months or even in a year and it feels like an epic achievement for some people who then justify huge amounts of cash, time, sacrifice and justify getting finicky about things like diet and taper, equipment, and getting grumpy at spouses and or families........

....... and then this dude comes along and pops one off...... day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day.....after day...

....it sure is a lot of ironmans !

while it might not be fair to count 30 ironmans against 29 ironmans plus and ironman with a elliptical run, it sure is decent to say 49 ironmans plus one ironman with elliptical run > 30 ironmans

... and definately an achievement untouchable by the 1 at a time ironman hecklers here

how can people be impressed of 1x1 but not 50x1 ?

Man,
Some of you guys are HARSH. I have no vested interest in his outcome but you have to admit, it's pretty freakin amazing. Most people here never thought the guy would get past week one. Now those people are picking apart every thing that "disqualifies him". Jeez.

As far as him not doing actual "Ironman" racing; um so what. What do you want him to call the event? "Long distance triathlons that are almost Ironman's cause had we had some issues" or "92% Ironman's". Good luck with that. I'm sure he has lots of free time to re-market himself at the present.

I'm no fanboy and of course there's some issues but can't we be a little more human and less sarcastic ? 35 consecutive days! Holy crap!

Rant over. You may continue your complaining at any time.

Just to point out the obvious: the total time is rather meaningless without adding in T1 and T2, which appear to be exceptionally long. Not dissing his effort, just saying that he's not averaging ~14h IM's if he's taking 1+ hour between events.

That said, it really doesn't seem like there's enough time in the day to SBR for the better part of 16 hours, travel to the next site and still get a reasonable amount of sleep before starting all over again. Chapeau.

I've spent the better part of two days (MD & PA) with him and I'd say on avg he spends 20-30min between events (T1 typically a bit longer than T2). In MD he took about 1:15 between bike & run due to the fact that he had an interview with ESPN Radio.

Pretty good day for 140.6 here in southwest Michigan. Took this from the local training groups FB. I wanted to join him for part of the day but work and kids' activities are going to make it tough. Maybe I'll join him for the last 10k after the kids go to bed.

IMWI course scheduled for today. Too bad he likely doesn't have a visit to The Great Dane on his schedule for his time in Madison.

He's abandoned all pretense of the IMWI course...

Swam in a pool on the Far East side - ostensibly because of his hurt shoulder so if something went wrong, treatment/rescue would be easier.

Bike now a ride to Oregon, WI with loops around a VERY flat course https://connect.garmin.com/...VaMwx_ha--w.facebook

Run now loops around Monona Bay on a VERY flat course https://connect.garmin.com/...VaMSGn4YQOA.facebook

Some pretty good Thunderstorms (1-2 inches of rain) predicted for this afternoon in Madison, so look for these to change as well... (Indoors again??)

It seems evident that all the courses on his website will be wrong and the best info for routes can be found following the links to FB pages in each state...

Flat and easy will be the key from here on out...

I am sorry. The guy has got to be bored off his ass. All day, every day, low intensity exercise on the flattest, easiest terrain possible. I know he's mentally tough, but man, he's got to be bored out of his mind. All I can think is that this is how he feels every morning when it's time to go swim 2.4 miles in yet another 25 yard pool before pedaling loops endless loops on some flat path before trotting endless out-and-backs on another flat path.

Ya, this is what I've thought from the start: what a mind-numbing 50 days of long, slow, slogging through long slow swims, bikes, and run/walks. Just seems like torture to me. This is probably why he's so talkative with everyone who comes out to do part of it with him, b/c he's so sick and tired of all the long slow miles to nowhere and needs someone to talk to to get his mind off of the boredom:)

Yes today's courses were definitely adjusted to be flatter. I rode the first 40ish miles of the bike this morning. Probably 20 or so riders at the start, down to around 12 after 30 miles, then a handful more jumped in at the "base camp" in Oregon at the end of the first lap. Looked like maybe 3 guys were planning to do the whole 112.

The ride was about what you'd expect for a casual 17ish MPH group ride with a bunch of strangers. IC seemed to be doing well and hanging in there physically. Chatted with him a bit. He's in good spirits but focused.

Asked him, how the heck do you get in all those calories? A: I eat what they give me. Said he had ~3000 calories for breakfast today (zoiks!!). Some days he's starving, other days he's fine. 2 pee stops in the first 2 hours, so hydration seems good.

Asked him, what's next? A: A marathon in Wisconsin. Living in the moment and not looking ahead.

Commented he's in the home stretch now. A: Still have a deca to go. Only 3 Americans have done a deca. Just needs to execute.

The support crew looked like they were having fun. Casey was very friendly and shook a bunch of hands. IC and the other guys were having a good laugh about how when they roll in, folks have a hard time telling which one is the IC... 2 or 3 of them have matching beards. They were all cracking up over that.

Kind of a cool experience, but definitely would be deathly boring to do all day, every day.

I rode with him today too, just for about 30 miles. With the Forest Gump beard going I was kind of waiting for him to just stop in the middle of the road and say "I'm pretty tired... think I'll go home now."

Because he "cut" the course.....

He created his own course as the HITS bike course was 6000+ feet of climbing. I think he made a course that was only 4000 feet of climbing.
