Indoor Ironman during Kona race
I've been kicking around the idea of an Indoor Ironman ever since my outdoor race season ended in September. I've done long workout on the trainer and treadmill before so this isn't that intimidating to me.

I want to honor the KONA race and do an epic workout while I'm at it. My plan is to swim at the local pool tomorrow morning, drive home, and then ride the trainer and run on the treadmill while I watch the live coverage. I know people have done these indoor Ironmans before and I want to join in that group even tough there is no real reward for such madness. I'm thinking 13 hours should get the job done. Anyone else done one of these and have some tips?

I say you go big... shoot for a 16:59:xx, finish by crawling across the living room floor and (perhaps) soiling yourself.

I'm tempted to go for a 10K Challenge tomorrow.....as in calories.

But I'll probably have to stop at 5K. Wink

Did she care whether you whipped it out or just let it rip in your shorts? Also was your T2 carpeted or hardwood? Did you say, but the dog does it?

I love that idea, if I wasn't about to leave for Chicago marathon I may have even considered it. Maybe this will be the punishment next year if I don't KQ.

With the expected meltdowns (children and wife), that's actually more difficult.

My wife, daughter and son in law get to go on rides, I get to watch the 5 month old and 3 year old grandkids

I plan indoor workouts every year. Usually 4 hours on the trainer and a long treadmill run. All set up for tomorrow!

I'll give you guys the report when I'm done. Not saying I'm going to make it, but it's my goal for tomorrow.

Good luck, but you're crazy!

Was just thinking about this the other day after a long bike ride. Being out in beautiful scenery, enjoying the feeling of speed and everything else that comes with riding outdoors is an essential part of cycling for me. I wouldn't be able to replicate the same ride indoors. The most I can do is a short intense session.

I did my first full Ironman in August (11:50) with a full meltdown on the run. Swim: 1:19 Bike 5:08 Run: 5:10

Tomorrow I plan on swimming under 1:30, biking around 6:30 (maybe 17 mph or better on my Fluid 2 trainer which I've done before) and then I'm going to set my run pace for 8:45/mile and adjust accordingly from there. WTF do I have to loose? Here's the way I see it...how am I going to find my limits and what I'm capable of if I don't try? And with Ironman WC's in front of me as motivation I can't think of a better scenario to test the waters.

This is how I get my kicks, by challenging myself with stuff like this...I know most people don't get it and that's part of why I find it fun I guess.

Sounds like a fucking nightmare...why bring the kids then? They won't even remember it (I went when I was 7 and remember one thing-the rain)
