Cave heads through 45 miles
Leanda Cave, who finished second here last year, trailed Joanna Zeiger through the bike a year ago. When Zeiger pulled out early in the run, Cave found herself leading the race for about 20 miles of the run - which she told us on Friday was quite a challenge. She was passed by Helene Bij de Vaate at that point and couldn't match the eventual winners pace.

Today Cave finds herself in front much earlier than a year ago - so far the only time she hasn't led today is when she swam behind Gina Kehr for about 100 m at the start of the swim!

is #2 drafting or what?

It's not about the bike, it's just along for the ride.

That may be a little bit of a stretch, I don't think TJ is "destroying" his legs. He is strong on the bike.

is biking his best aspect of the ironman?

Hoping for either Rappstar or TJ to win it and both to go 1,2. Rooting more for Rappstar, but TJ is due.

it must be the carbon fibre lunch box and thermos that mounts below the aero bars and above the tire. this way he can pack all the essentials necessary to hang on with very minimal weight added.

Actually I think it's really entertaining because sooner or later someone is going to eat it... the anticipation is killing me...

Seriously though, that course looks like a mess. I realize it must be hard to find a good course in such an urbanized area, but really, 3 loops? Must be a major pain in the ass for the faster cyclists.

yeah, but I was getting sick of the lovefest for Mcglone...seemed like they couldn't even find the men leaders because the cameras were on her for a good hour, then they went to Major. I was starting to think it was a women only race based on commentors

When Rapp and TJ came by me TJ was totally legal. The interesting thing is the number of people who are already riding up out of the aerobars on the hoods (nearly 30% in two random samples. We've also seen at least 10 road bike/no aerobar set-ups.

Couple of videos I took this morning of Jordan at the turnaround on the beeline on his first loop. They're from my cell, but still not bad. Jordan was looking strong, and TJ and his nut cups aren't far behind.
