Hoke Clifton 4 -Insole
I blieve this is a common problem and apologies if it has been discussed before. I recently bought a pair of Clifton 4's and today around mile 6 of my run I notice I was getting hot spots where the insole rubs against the arch of my right foot and left foot. The right was definitely worse than the left. What is the common solution for this? Replace the insoles? If so any recommendations? Or is it a matter of just taping up my foot and/or the insole? Thanks for the help

I am still in Clifton 3's....and yes, the insoles are problematic. Several people mentioned this on some other running group forums. I just took some insoles from another pair of shoes I had and the problem disappeared.

I am in my first pair of HOKA and they are the Clifton 4. I was VERY hesitant about buying them but they are probably the best shoe I have run in. I have put short intervals to a 22 mile run and I never noticed any hot spots. Hope you get it figured out.

This has been a common CLAYTON series issue, haven't heard of the issue with the Clifton. I've had 2 pr Clifton & no issues. Clayton 2's I had an issue. Solved a large part of it by taking a utility knife & shaving off part of the insole at the arch to a "V" edge vs. squared off edge. These insoles are just stamped out and leave squared off edged arch area & it just is a friction nightmare--not sure why they don't taper that off. You'd think shoe designers would be looking for ANYTHING that would cause discomfort (e.g. the majority of Adidas racers out there). They so should have me as a tester--I'm as picky as can be when it comes to shoes and little details like that. ;-)

yes yes yes! I haven't been able to sort the issue, but like you I'm affected by it and my feet are becoming a bit of a mess despite loving the ride and the feel of the shoe my right foot has had many blisters and I thought it was just me.

Thanks for the responses. Looks like I will try to shave a bit off the edge of the insole and see if that helps. If not, I'll look into buying a different set of insoles. Anyone try superfeet in Hokas?

As mentioned above I knew it was a common issue in the Clayton but not the Clifton. I put On insoles in all my shoes now as they have a little inbuilt arch in then and have had no issues since.

I'm still using the insoles from the Clifton 1's!! I keep putting them into my new Cliftons and Tracers as well. I've got five sets, but they're getting pretty thin - each pair has well over 1k miles!

I really wish Hoka would bring back the Clifton 1 in all of its glory - a perfect shoe that shouldn't have been messed with!
