Ricky Shultis, 43, was killed instantly on NYS Route 28, a designated state bicycle route which he rode daily, when struck by a dark blue Dodge Dakota, circa 1987-90. The driver fled the scene.

What I hate is when the bike lane is cluttered with shards of glass everywhere. I have to swerve out to the white line otherwise I get a flat tire. What do you guys do when this happens?

NYS motor vehicle law allows bicycles on the road. They're to ride as far to the right as is reasonably safe. Riding over glass is not reasonably safe. It's the responsibility of the car approaching from the rear to either slow down or pass safely. Same rights, same rules, same responsibilities. Bicycles are considered vehicles on the road.
