My main pain indicator is when lying on my back, there is pain in the front of the hip area when I lift my let up. I used to barely be able to make it lift. Then I could lift it with shooting pain. Now I can lift it with dull ache.

That is the exact way my leg felt a couple years ago - I had psoas tendonitis and a stress reaction. I also had an asymptomatic labral tear. As described above, a cortisone took care of the tendonitis and rest took care of the fracture.

Get some of Twin Labs Bone Support or Tri-Boron Plus. Best calcium supplement I've found.

maybe she's born with it, maybe it's chlorine

Did you have the labral tear repaired? Or since there was no pain, left it alone?

Thanks!

I am now 11 weeks post op from labral repair on my hip and it is going really well. They did some other work as well and I am now training at full steam for swim and bike. Get to start running this week or next though not far to start. I was planning on not doing any tris until July to allow for ample time to get the mileage up but decided that I am far enough down the road to recovery that I am doing a sprint in May and an Oly in June along with a MTB race in June.

Best of luck with your recovery! I got some great advice here before my surgery. Your doctor will likely prescribe an Iceman or similar, those are GREAT. Be diligent about your PT find a good one and do your exercises. At first it is about range of motion and after that it is strengthening your supporting muscles. They focus a lot on glute strength and I think working that preop will help post op. The worst part of the whole procedure was crutches for three weeks. Pain was very manageable. I was off of the hillbilly heroin in two days.

I was just diagnosed with a stress hip fracture. I had the exact same symptoms you outlined in your comments. I, too, thought it was muscular. I kept walking on it, ran with massive pain, kept biking and swimming. Finally got in to the doctor and had an MRI. It ended up being a stress reaction/fracture. Crutches, can't do anything... So, my advice, go get crutches! Start the healing now!!
