Help! Advice on tri race wheels please
I am in the process of building a tri bike, Guru Cron'alu, and shopping for race wheels. Options abound, but money does not. I need to be around $1000 for the set. I will be racing primarily in New England, olympic and 1/2 ironman this year, full ironman in 2007 maybe. 700, clincher (to save money/time on tires/flats), shimano. I have ruled out Zipps and Mavic Cosmic Carbon due to price. I am shopping ebay, etc., but they are still priced to high. I am looking at HED Alps or Jets. Any other suggestions? Does anyone ride Reynolds? Thank you in advance for your help.

you should check out http://www.rolwheels.com/ and save some $$ :) The guy who has the company is out of CO and is working on some cool new stuff.

Another option is the company from my home town of Austin TX http://www.blackwellresearch.com/p_wheels_tri.htm (they used to use Zipp rims but I think now they have started their own production and the prices are good).

I think the best value combo is a Renn disc and a Jet60 in the front. Around $800us for the combo. 98% as aero as the stuff that would cost 3x as much and very durable. Not as light as some options but unless the course is really hilly I think this setup is still the fastest.

I would go for Hed Alps, excelent aerodynamic, lightweight (lightest aero clinchers?), good quality, alu breaking surface and excelent customer support.
