Hed Jet 6 C2 + Powertap Spoke Length
Possibly the most boring post on ST at the moment but ....

I need the spoke length for a Hed Jet C2 with a Powertap G3 laced into it.

Google is not providing much help ..... LBS is asking me prior to a rebuild of the wheel as I keep popping spokes.

Can't you just measure one of the popped spokes?
Also, where are they getting the spoke nipples from? Cuz I need some.

There are no popped spokes knocking around. I popped 4 in a month so guessed it is time for a rebuild, they are about 5 or 6 years old. All the spokes are currently not broken and I did not save an old one. I will ask them about spoke nipples.

Call HED. My experience has been that they are always willing to help.

find another LBS, if they can't determine a spoke length, how can you trust the rest of the wheelbuild.

FYI the erd of the c2 jets is the same as teh c2 belgiums.

I reject your reality and substitute my own!

For anyone that needs to work on those wheels:

I found what I think they are using for spoke nipples on the Jets.

I've got some 2-56 hex stand offs 3/16" long and ran a #47 drill through it to open up the threads a little, then ran it on a stainless spoke a few times to deepen the threads a bit.

It fits a little tigher than a regular spoke nipple but still freely. With a little linseed oil it should work quite nicely. Instead of replacing a few spokes I'm re-spoking the whole wheel with a new but similar sized hub.

From your description, it sounds like there are spokes remaining in the wheel, it's just that none of them are broken. Removed one of the good ones still in the wheel and measure it.

I've also found you have to add ~7mm to each Jet spoke from what you would normally get out of a spoke calculator because the spoke goes through the rim and not just up to it.

It's sorted now, they got hold of head.

The issue was partly laziness I guess. I didn't want to have to take the wheel back down to the LBS and I wouldn't be able to get the spoke out, measure it, and back in without messing the wheel up in some way. Plus I was using my bike frequently so just wanted to be able to get an answer and get them to order. All good now, well, kind of, they rebuilt it with silver spokes despite me giving them the wheel itself, which had black spokes, plus the entire bike with it, with a front wheel that had black spokes. So .... it's being rebuilt again next week.

But, for the purposes of this thread, the question is sorted. Thanks for the assists .... and all the other info that inevitably comes from these threads!
