I can't help but feel mixture of disgust and pity. I am nostalgic for the time when there was still a sense of shame in this country. I remember back when people would be mortified if they were caught doing wrong. Now they just sell the video of their crime to the highest bidder. The media has made stars out of people who call themselves "Jackass" or "Tool" and eternal love is a game show prize.

I am a big believer in redemption and I would welcome a real act of contrition. This is not it. Doing a bigger stunt while denying your guilt is not the way to make things better. I will be at IMAZ because I was going to be there anyway, but this stunt does not interest me and I hope it does not detract from the noble goals of the majority of the athletes.

Dan

I got both of your emails and I hope you got the one I sent back.

Wow, I didnt think this was gonna stir up so much anger amongst you maniacs. Well, first of all - I just wanna thank all the supporters. I've gotten tons of emails and posts all eager to see this event actually take place. And so many people that are shocked that this is even possible... I am extremely excited and I'm anticipating a HUGE turnout in Arizona...

I'll tell ya, when this first happened I really wanted to get in this chat room and start tearing into people about how silly the whole thing was... If any of you would have ever checked any of my other swim times you would have easily realized that. I then wanted to get my buddy Dan ( who did the whole NYC Marathon with me ) to get in here and set the record straight about that as well....But a buddy of mine convinced me that laying low might work out better then I could ever imagined,,,,,,
And He Was So Right !!!!!!

So now, its put up or shut up time on my end. And although I've been training, this is gonna be a brutal Brutal 3 days. But, I am so looking forward to it. And I know there are going to be some people who try to discredit what I'm about to do....... And to you I say this ---" You may not be able to make it out to Arizona for this challenge, but make no mistake about it.....there will be another FinMan Challenge as soon as I'm done with this one.....AND THEN I DONT WANNA HEAR ANY OF YOUR RIDICULOUS EXCUSES !!!!!!!" So if your gonna make comments, be prepared to BE CALLED OUT !!!!!!

So the poster that stated he watched you take them off, is he one of your buddies? Otherwise one of you is lying right? Final question would be, why would he lie?

C'mon man you thought they were a fish with a blue stripe and a strap?

Just admit it and then go do your challenge.

I could care less about the fins Frank. I just watched you toot your own horn and show all your medals, trying to show how bitchen you are. I have to ask, why are you still fat? Did I hear correctly that you are coaching people!? That's like buying a weight loss book written by doctor Phil.

How about this bet...a well respected member of ST does the stupid finman challenge. If the ST member wins, Frank leaves town (aka gets out of triathlon for good). No room for cheaters.

Who cares about some New Jersey Douche Bag? If Guido in a Speedo wants to wear fins and kick his way to an IM finish, let him. Just don't let him jack my finish picture or draft off of me in the bike.
I will be volunteering at IMAZ this year and will be a "wetsuit removal specialist (ie Stripper). I will be looking for this guy with his water wings and snorkel (are snorkel's still legal?).
I am thinking about making and selling some Finman t-shirts while out there. Some for and some against -

For - The Finman Challenge - One man's quest to change the world by spending 3 days in pain
Against - The Finman Challenge - One man's quest to change the world by walking around before and after an Ironman

For - My Finman Daddy is faster than your daddy
Against - My Finman Daddy cheats and is still a slower swimmer than your daddy

For - Fins don't make you faster, they make you crazy
Against - Do these fins make my 5'10" 214 lb frame look fat?

If I didn't dislike cycling so much I could do it. Sounds arrogant but it is totally doable if you take a long time to do all three. Think about it. A 16 hour IM and two 7 hour marathons. Totally doable. If you are trying to race them and set some kind of PR that's a whole other world of hurt.

I didn't watch the whole video. I couldn't take it after the first 2 minutes.

It's sad he has had to go to this length to prove a point.

I figure if he did cheat, he cheated himself.

If he didn't cheat, who cares?

If he didn't get a kona slot, it's doesn't matter.

With all due respect, who cares if you do this? It doesn't seem like that big of a challenge. No time limits?

Sandusky Ohio - 2010....I will bring my fins if you want to race your format. Mine has no fins more often than not.

And your finishers medals....pathetic. We will all try to forget that pesky photo of you with fins RUNNING INTO THE WATER.

Pathetic.

A guy down in Aus did 5 IM's in 5 days to raise money for charity, your challenge is piss weak.

You're a real live psychopath, aren't you?

What's really interesting about you has nothing to do with triathlons. It has to do with a little company named Morgan Funding Corp.

Anything you want to share with us here before dox get dropped? Or would you prefer to make a video instead?

A few questions came to my mind watching the video.

The first is how he could have entered IMAZ while he was suspended from USAT events (he's on the official entry list now).

Second, if the story happened the way he says, how come none of the racers around him in the water haven't come forward and backed up/refuted his story. Has lifeguard TIm ever posted what he saw or heard?

Third, if I saw fins, or anything for that matter, floating in the water, my first reaction would not be to pick them up. Unless they were attached to a body.

And fourth, and probably most telling about this guy's personality, is his total lack of remorse even if the events happened the way he described. A better approach might have been, "Good day. I am really sorry about this whole thing. I am going to do everything I can to try to make this right, I'm going to do this challenge and try to get everyone else to do it with me. I want to show you I'm a legitimate athlete and I am capable of what I say I am. And, oh by the way, to show I am not just seeking more attention to feed my oversized ego, we're going to try to raise a ton of money for ALS." Celebrities have shown us on an almost weekly basis how forgiving society can be if you try hard enough to make amends. But, the way he comes across now, he looks like a spoiled kid that isn't getting enough attention.

My .02.

Mike

i'm certain i have never had my opinion turned around on a guy this dramatically in the span of 10 minutes. if roman polanski is this persuasive, he'll not only get off, he'll be babysitting the judge's teenage girls. regardless of whether frank cardia wore fins in florida or not, he's the new king of turning a negative into a positive.

you better believe slowtwitch is covering the finman challenge live.

why?

The guy is a sociopath or full of himself it's just like giving Charles Manson a platform, unless you do it just for fun and to mock the guy and that's ok since I personally don't think much of him

peace
