For the fishes and Ledecky/Summer fans
We knew this day was coming for Summer, so following in Titmus's draft, just took down the GOAT of women distance swimming. Hell of a race that ended up getting won(and lost) by 100'ths. Man on Man, the games in the women's distance free is going to be epic when those 3 go head to head, and no doubt some up and comer in the mix with them. Can Ledecky pull it out one more time? Or is youth going to take their rightful places in the line ups, and relegate Katie to the 1500??

I watched live one of the best head to heads ever. Had this been 36 hours sooner it would have set a new WR.

Katie is entered in the 4IM & 1500 and they are back to back in finals and are timed finals. Unless she asks to race IM in heats she will be scratching...

I predict a 15:08 for 1500m for Katie.

Macintosh goes 4:22 in IM.

One of our kids takes his heat in 200 back this morning... he's 16. My kid trains in the same squad. We have about 60 kids in the national group with 3 coaches. They will mix and match the kids during the week to get them a more custom program. Mine spends time in the distance & fly groups

We also had one of our boys swim 3:47.4 in 400 (missed finals by a second). He turned 17 yesterday - stands at 5'9" 135lb.

I will predict that Katie goes closer to 15 flat with the SCM. She is on great form it looks like, just over shadowed by two others who just happened to go a tiny bit faster. So if she is indeed ready to swim some more PR's, I think 15 really low is achievable..

I looked all over, cannot find any video of their race, do you have a link you could share??

Correction, when those 4 go head to head. Li Bingjie just shattered the sc world record. That’s gonna be a ridiculous race.

That's crazy fast for that size. I was about the same height at that age and grew to 6'1" over five or six months. If he does that and maintains his coordination in the water he'll be scary in a year or two.

I think he'll max out at 5'11". 400 IM is his best event. He'll swims 400 IM & 800 tomorrow. Both timed finals, IM he swims in the morining and 800 in the fast heat in finals... he'll probably crack top 8 in IM.

I'm working our meet at home today...

Full finals. W400 IM is the first event. Summer smashed the WJR & swam 4th fastest ever. Podium sweep for Canada.

Damn, you were right on the money for Katie with your prediction of 15:08!!! And just barely off on Summer's 400 IM: she went 4:21.5 vs your 4:22. You are quite the predictor today. :)

I didn't have Summer going 58.11 for 100 Back on my bingo card tho.

She went 2:29 for 200 Br.

She's in 200 Back & IM tomorrow... Back she is entered NT & swimming heat 1.

Looks like Katie isn't racing tomorrow... probably taking a rest day and heading to Indy.

Side note - the Mcintosh's have another daughter Brooke who is an elite figure skater, 3rd at Jr Worlds in Pairs. She was cometing at the ISU GP - Skate Canada in Mississauga this week as well finishing 4th.

It is amazing she can swim so many events so well. With the skater daughter that is one very athletic fam!!!

After seeing all the women results, it would have been a much better race for summer if she were against the American Beata Nelson. Beata beat her in the 200IM and 200 back pretty handily, so have to imagine she has a good 400IM in her too. Just that she is so good at so many events, so took wins where she could find them. by the time Paris rolls around, gonna be a whole new crop of names fighting for those top 5 positions, with just a few of the old guard hanging on.

Speaking of which, haven't heard anything from Caleb Dressel, wonder if his hiatus is over yet and he found the belly fire to take it to the world one more time. Of course he now has to go into some of his races as the underdog, and he has to take even his ultra fast swimming to a whole new level. Hope he has it in him to at least try, seems like the mental game has been beating him down lately. Seems to happen to sprinters a lot.

2:02 for backstroke is solid for her 3rd stroke. I think the fatigue set in for that IM. She was just off of the NAG in 200 Back and slashed 4 seconds of the Ontario record. Our swimmer was 9th in 400 IM & 5th in the 800 at 7:51.59.

I think he's been back in the water for a little bit now. Nesty was a speaker at the Canadian coaches conference that was about 2 weeks after that was published.

Unfortunatly no.

Indy starts tomorrow.

Mcintosh is switching up her line up.

200/800 Free
100 IM
50/200 Fly

800 is on Saturday. Predicting 754/755 for 1&2. The WR is 759.

Toss up on who takes the 800 but I want Summer to get her first WR.

Wow, what a race.

I think the biggest shocker for me here is....Ledecky SC??? I didn't think she cared about it.

I only swim.
I used to run. (31:09 10k)
I never did Triathlon.
Sue me.
