Foot Pain (across top of foot)
Has anyone ever had pain across the top of their foot?

I am thinking I've got some tendonitis as a result of ramping up my run miles too quickly in my base phase.

Would I know if it was a stress fracture? Any help anyone can provide is appreciated.

Not a doc or anything, but I was recently diagnosed w/ a stress fracture in my 3rd metatarsal. It was extra sensitive in one spot and my doc had me try moving my toes w/ resisitance (him holding them down/up) to determine whether it was a tendon issue. There was (is) a general slight swelling across the top of my foot and it was rather warm.

Best bet would be to go see your doc for either x-rays (apparently stress fractures of the foot show about 3 weeks post-injury) or a bone scan to confirm.

Oh, and here is a site that was rather helpful in my self-diagnosis. http://www.foottalk.com/stressfx.htm

Also, you might want to rule out simple bruising caused by lacing too tightly.
