Fitting a bike in SF area
Hi,

Getting ready for my first half-ironman, using aero bars for the first time on my road bike. I am looking for a recommendation for a San Francisco area shop (ideally Marin County) with a knowledgeable person to help me get set up as best as I can. Thanks in advance for help.

Phil did my fit and I am very happy with it. But you can't go wrong with any of the 3 recomendations.

I went to PK Racing and Chris fit me perfectly for both my rode and tri bike. First class customer service, unbelievable fit from someone who is superknowledgeable.

Go to PK Racing so you will never have to doubt your fit.

I have sent at least 7 other people and they all feel the same.

$495? I just recently got a fit there and it was only $325. Worth every penny and then some.

$325 definitely not worth it to me. Shoot, for that price, you could probably drive down to the mountains and have the MASTER do it, plus, check out Dan and Monty's hideaway. I second Phil Casanta, Ari at City Cycle or Krag Rassmussen.

Just curious as to whether those of you who say it's too expensive have had a fitting at PK? My experience, as with all things, is that you get what you pay for.

OTOH there is the phenomenon of people spending a lot of money on something and rationalizing the purchase.

Without a doubt, Phil C. Second choice would be Chris at PK Racing.

Thanks to all for the comments. I am surprised at how much a fitting costs, but I guess it is all relative depending on one's budget and level of commitment. I haven't contacted PK, but my market research is:

Eric, Pacific Bikes, $150 for basic, $300 with video analysis

Phil C. - $150 for basic fitting.

PK - Sounds like $325 and up.

In the interest of positive karma, for anyone in the area my hot tip is that Fairfax-Bolinas road is closed to cars right now due to some slides etc. There are a couple of short muddy sections between Fairfax and Alpine lake, so tread carefully, but it's a great opportunity to ride a good hilly road with essentially no traffic (and no weekend-warrior porsche drivers climbing over your back). Gracias.
