I am going to miss my "waaaah...they are too sharp!" source of amusement.

tom, i know having those levers razor sharp and bladed did save a critical 1/4 of sec. per 40 km. i do race fast, so i know how important that 1/4 of a sec. is. and for me, often 1/4 of sec. is the difference for whether or not i make the podium, as all the tri's i do are timed with great swiss precision (yeah, right).

but i dont think FSA/vision "wussified" their levers, they revised the design to suit the human hand. it is about time. maybe i'll even get some.

you see, i like to brake at the last possible reasonable moment when descending and turning, so i put a lot of pressure on the brake levers as i yank hard, but carefully. call me crazy, but i prefer to yank on an ergonomic surface.

no, the "last bastion of common sense be damned, testicularly tuned full on performance" is not tolerating uncomfortable, poorly designed brake levers, but knowing how to descend, and how to descend FAST.

as an aside, i hope they also revised the design to stop the endless rattling....

Seriously? I mean you really think the Vision levers are uncomfortable?

I'm astonished - really. Ya'all must soak your hands in milk or something. I've been using these levers for a couple of years now, and find them perfectly comfortable.

...And BS on your super-late braking super GI-Joe hand strength nonsense. Phooey. People crash if they try to follow me through a TT turnaround. I'm badaassss, man :0), and these babies work just fine.

(I could do without the rattle though... here's the garage shop fix; cut a small section of a 20c inner tube to form a .75 cm width rubberband. Slide over the brake lever past the pivot. Stops the rattle, and also works as a return spring.)

What a fabulous suggestion! I'm gonna try that tomorrow. I train almost exclusively on tar and gravel roads and the buzz of those brakes is about to drive me crazy. But I love 'em nonetheless. Question, how to you slide the inner tube section on without slicing them on the razor-sharp levers? You must put electrical tape over those brake edges first, huh? Then remove it once the bands are in place?

Actually, I wear chain-mail cycling gloves so the sharpness of the brake levers doesn't bother me a bit.

not to hijack the thread but... Doug from FSA, could you check into why the 130 SLKs don't accept the Q rings, or the rings from the gossamer cranks for that matter. There was a post on it about a week ago. Thanks.

Hmmm...since Tom is never ever wrong (according to many ST'ers), clearly Doug, you are incorrect. :)

Waaaay easier fix to the rattling rivet: put a small smearing of grease into the rivets on the levers and have not heard a peep since. 600 miles and counting...

I guess I've been lucky, my levers don't rattle one iota. Those plastic end caps that came with them rattled, but I just put a couple drops of superglue under each one and all is well. I love the levers.

grease isn't enough for many of the levers (like mine.)

The silver rivet that holds the lever in place (also the pivot point for the lever) is the part on my set that rattled and buzzed while riding. If you hold it between your fingers you can move it around a bit. Take a small dab of grease (same stuff you'd use on brake cable housing, etc.) and rub it around inside the gaps between the rivet and the hole that it sits in, both sides. Wipe off the excess and you should be set. If there is rattling coming from the levers themselves, the brake cable may need to be retightened.

I superglued the endcaps before my first ride with them; I heard they had a tendancy to pop off, so I didn't give them a chance. Not sure if they would produce a rattle, but I suppose its possible.
