Irongeek, nothing motivates me like competition. I am 153 also. What's your target weight?

'Twas the day after Christmas, and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.

The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste
At the holiday parties, had gone to my waist.

When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
As I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber),

I'd remember the marvellous meals I'd prepared;
the gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,

The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese
And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."

As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt,

I said to myself, as only I can...
"You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!"

So---away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruit cake, each cracker and chip.

Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
Till all the additional ounces have vanished.

I won't have a cookie---not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a celery stick.

I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.

I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore,
But isn't that what January is for?

Unable to giggle, no longer a riot...
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!

Speedy - No change this week. Still at 202.5. I was at 200 by mid-week, but it slowly crept back up to 202.5 by this morning. I actually ate well, except for Sunday, and got all my workouts in. Oh well, better luck this week.

I'm shooting for under 140. I put on nearly 10 pounds after IMFL last November - I have been eating like I was still training 20+ hours a week. My ideal weight is around 135-137 (according to my bmi), but my wife doesn't like me that thin. She complains enough when I get below 145, but I'd like to be under 140 for the hilly races I have coming up. Good luck - I'll keep an eye on your progress, and that help motivate me to stay on track.

My original post was as Skibum - that name has since been changed to RockyMtnChic. Anyways, I am up 2 pounds this week - 182 total. Now that makes 22 pounds to lose... what a blow on the first week!! Goal is 160.
My reward is new tri gear
My consequence is no caffeine, and I am upping it to no booze for 2 months either... more motivation for me...

Down two this week to 243. First 5 should be pretty easy as they were just the extra I put on over the holidays. Good job everyone.

I'm at 196 so 2 pounds this week. I suspect it is mostly due to my lack of the fabulous starbucks coffee.

Thanks again for this challenge.

Dear Speedy

I am back for round two of the great weight-loss challenge. I totally kicked butt on this one last year and dropped from 217 to 191 lb. over the seven or so month. So, to my disgust when I weighed in on new years day morning and found I had crept back up to 201 I knew it was time to go back on the challenge. If you can add me to your website, that would be great.

So, the details

Paul Charteris
Davis, CA

1/1/07 weight 201
1/8/07 weight 196.0

Target weight loss 16 lb.
(to weigh in at 185 lb. on April 30 – the Monday before Miwok 100k)

%BF 16.5
Reward: A new Icebreaker merino shirt
Dire consequence: Not signing up for a 100 mile run in 2006 (and I really really want to do one of these).

Cheers, Paul

Jan 8 -- up 3lbs. Not a good start. I think my holiday sins were just slow to make themselves known. It is all good from here. :)

Not so good for me, but oh well. 224.4. So, I am amending my goal to 23lbs down from last week (223, making the goal an even 200).
