I have a pair of Tri Fly IV cycling shoes by Pearl Izumi. I've had them for 3 years. I noticed that they are loosing their stiffness on the upper part of the shoes and sides (leather part). The sole seams fine but I feel like my foot a moving all over the place inside the shoe because the leather is stretched and warn. Is it time for new shoes? I thought cycling shoes last more than 3 years? However, I do put a lot of miles in them.

I'm right there with you but with the Bontrager XXX road shoes (3 velcro straps).
I bought a used pair of Bontrager Hilo tri shoes on the ST forums and the upper is better than my XXX shoes! That was all I needed to decide on getting a new pair of road shoes. Sucks tossing a pair of $400 shoes after 2-3 years though. I might just keep them and use them for trainer rides.
