Tonight I went on a ride with the intent of having a medium paced ride getting used to my new aerobars. While riding I passed a field with a bunch of deer, who took off as soon as they saw me. Two ran at an angle to the road and crossed well in front of me. The rest ran the opposite way...except two who ran towards the road. When they got to about 15 yards from the road they started running parallel to me, bounding into the air as if they were trying to tell me they wanted to play. I couldn't resist, so I shifted up and started hammering. The deer and I raced for about a quarter of a mile before a creek angling towards the road. The deer turned around and stopped, looked back at me, so I yelled "nice race guys" and kept going. It was a totally cool experience and even though I went totally anerobic it was worth it. I am convinced those deer really wanted to play. Couple that with a gorgeous day and things don't get much better.
