Cervelo S2 new seatpost
Hello,

I can't find it on the Cervelo Website but I'm pretty sure to have seen a new S2 yesterday with an uncommon seatpost, a P5like one (with a rail not a double position nor a reversible one). Did I dream ???
If not, would it fit an old S3 and where to buy it ?

Thx in advance for your replies.

If it the same post I'm thinking of...its a custom one off piece.

If you're looking for a stock post Excel has them.

Some of the 2013 S2's have them. Rumor is the 2014 S5's will have something similar.

I for one am glad about the new seat post as it makes adjustments much easier.

Whoa! That got me all diggy. I hope it's true. No more reversing posts. Please do post where you saw it. My S1 could have a new lease in life

BINGO! Just saw it on the S2 page. The picture is near the bottom right where it links to a gallery page

Absolutely, that's exactly the bike I saw. So, I did not dream ?
If anyone knows where to buy this seatpost and if it would fit in a S3 ?

Thanks in advance !

I sent a message on Cervelo's facebook page regarding the seatpost. Unfortunately, they don't make one. I was like, how the heck did it make it into their website then? It could be fabricated they say. Already saw pictures of 3 s2s with that seatpost. I hope they go public and sell these posts. It will be easier than flipping and adjusting saddles eveytime. Anyway, they said they will try to find out where it was made.

Do you have links to said pics?

This is the only one I've seen besides the stock S2/3 post...and its a one off custom made post. Made by "1406racer" on the Cervelo forum.

Try to login in to the cervelo owners' gallery and filter out s2 frameset 2013 model. You'll see 3 s2s with the sliding rail post.

BTW, I already saw the post in an online store in a stock s2 2013. Looks like its cervelo made. Not sure though if it'll fit the old s or soloist series

Why would you care about the S2? It's head tube is way too tall and the front end is a wet noodle.

Sounds like he owns an S3 and wants a new seatpost not a whole new bike. My S2 was a warrenty replacement frame so I still have an older post from my soloist team. This new post looks lighter and more adjustable.

Or you could just have a custom post made as this one is around 182g complete with saddle.

Will it fit the new S2 os S3?

Hi retzel,

Nope, sorry, that one only fits the old S2, old S3 and similar frames (seat post roughly 2:1).

The new S2 and new S3 share the same shaft dimensions as the S5 and S5 VWD (seat post roughly 3:1), so that model's two-position post interchanges with the single position post that comes on the new S2 and new S3.

Hi Damon,

How does the new S2/S3 seatpost compare to the S5/S5vwd seatpost in terms of weight?

Thanks for any info

Hi kpbergma,

The new S2/S3 single position post drops about 40 grams compared to the two-position post in the S5 / S5VWD. They're structurally identical other than eliminating the material for the other position.

Just FYI, the single position is exactly in between (20mm set back) the two positions of the S5 post (0 and 40mm set back).
