Canyon Speedmax CF and what wheels?
Hi!

I`m getting a new Canyon Speedmax CF. but not sure what wheels to go for.
from what I see on this aero data the best choise is to go for the Zipp 808 in front and back and not the disc in the back? correct ?

any thoughts?

I`m going to use it in TT races.. so it need to be UCI legal.

Are you competing for podium? The difference between pair of 808 and 808/disc is around 5 watts on paper.

I have a Speedmax myself and went for the Zipp Super 9.

When fiddling around marginal gains, choosing an appropiate tire will give nearly the same time saving.

I want to go as fast as possible yes.. ;)
but from the aero data from tour magazine the Speedmax was fastes with 808 in front and back.. almost identical as P5six with 808/Disc
With 808 front and disc back it was a bit slower actually.. while all others was faster with Disc in back
and that is the reason I`m asking :)

Does the test state which tires that were used? That could be a confounding factor.

That result is sufficiently odd enough that I wouldn't trust it.

The 808 can be faster sometimes at certain yaw angles, but that big of a difference, at all yaw angles, is odd.

All wheels where mounted with Continental Grand Prix TT.
they tested with Zipp 808 set, Zipp 808 front and Super-9 back and Zipp 808 front and Lightweight disc in back. and still the 808 Set was measured the best.
they where using dummy legs on all setups. they also did a note on that all bikes performed the best with Zipp 808 front and Super-9 disc in back except Canyon Speedmax which performed best with 808 Front and back.
I also feel that its verry strange that a 808 set is faster than disc setup.. but from what I read in the test it really looks like it is? or should I just asume that the test is wrong and go with Disc? :) is it to good to be true ?
I ordered the Speedmax 9.0 SL that comes with 404 front and 808 back. bought that one since I needed a extra pair of wheels for my RR bike. so since I want to go as fast as possible on the bike I really want the optimal wheels for the bike so if that its 808 pair or 808/disc I will put that on my shoping list.
what are the real Pro/Cons on 808 set vs 808/disc ?
