A 'cross bike would be much better - you'll trash the road bike on it. I think Josh has a 'cross frame he'd give up pretty cheap. There's always misc parts lying around so we could put something together.

You need to hook up with Craig - he trains on those fire roads all the time - goes out for six hours at a time on some days. He's taken his Time VRXS out there before, but found a 'cross bike is necessary. If you'd like, I can forward your email to him.
