Anyone Running in Saucony Guides
Thinking of changing from the Saucony Guides, as it seems the 9 has a bit less structure than previous models and not working for me. Any suggestions on what I may change to that are similar to prior Guide models (like the 7). Would like to stay with drop of approx. 8 mm. thanks

I've got a pair of Guide 8's and they seem to work decent for me. I also am running on a rotation of Asic GT2K3 and Brooks Adrenaline GTS 15.

I also have wide flat feet so need the E version. Not a huge fan of my GT2K3's but they work well enough. Probably won't buy another pair after this one wears out.

I have the new Guide 9s. They have a 4mm drop.

wow, did not realize the Guides went from an 8 to 4 mm drop for the 9's. Been running in them for years. Maybe that is what is not working for me. Any suggestions on another shoe?

Brooks Ravenna's worked well for me. They are 8mm drop.

I went from the guides to the Saucony omnis; 8mm drop, from 26-18. They feel good to me and pretty durable. I've used Saucony for a long time. I tried the Brooks Ravenna, but came back to Saucony. Nothing wrong with the Ravennas, but didn't notice anything spectacular that made me want to stick with them.

good luck

I've never used the Guides. I use the Saucony Omni with 8 mm drop. I've also had good luck with the Brooks Adrenaline. Those should be a little more supportive than the guides.

The Guide 9's most certainly have an 8mm drop.
The only shoes in the Saucony line up with 4mm are: Kinvara, Peregrine (trail), Xodus (trail), Nomad (trail), Zealot, Type A and Fastwitch.

I've run in the Guides and now pretty much stick with the Brooks Ravenna. I liked Ravenna's 1-5, 6 sucked, and 7 went back to more like the prior shoe.

And a shout out to the dearly departed Mirage...

Interesting. The website says 8mm. When I get home from work, I'll look at mine. I thought I saw 4mm drop on the shoe.

Check the back of the heel. Saucony actually molds the drop number to the back of the heel on the midsole. And I can 100% for certain tell you they are 8mm. Yes, the Mirage was a favorite of mine. It just got a little lost in the line. It was not billed as a replacement to the Tangent, but the Tangent went away and the very next season the Mirage popped up. I loved loved loved the Tangents. They were a traditional 12mm drop, though.

I run in the Guides (used 6, 7, 8 and 9). Pretty much the only shoe I've worn for the last 3 years, and I've probably logged about 8,000 kms in them. I love the 6, 7, 8....but there's something about the 9 that I don't like. I can't put my finger on it, but it's a downgrade (for me anyway). I've stocked up on several pairs of 8, so I have a supply that last me.

Like others have said, I can use the Guide, but really prefer the Ravenna. A bit more cushion with same amount of support.

I had the Guide and it did not work for me. They were recommended based on a gait analysis. I switched to the Ride and I like those a lot. I am on my 5th or 6th pair, I had the Ride 6 for a while and I am on my first pair of 8s, they are about the same except I am getting more blistering on the side of my big toe than I would expect on a new pair.

I was incorrect. The Guide 9's do have an 8mm drop.
