Since I got into the LC at the last second I wasn't training for it so ML if you are EVER gonna beat me, its this time. Of course you won't. But, if you want I will ride and run with you until you think you are going to win again then leave you for dead because seeing peoples dreams and hopes get crushed is the best gift ever and interestingly my Birthday is May 19th. Also I love the way you turn yourself inside out to try to keep up. Its like I can see the dagger stuck in your gut and twisted as we run up the mountain. The sounds of you dry heaving is like sweet love wispers of demons.

Am Zof is biblical.

Quite the challenge! Perhaps this along with the chance to take more of tetsuoni's money will get ML out there racing with the big boys again.

Or maybe he's psyched to defend his title and race in the inaugural GCG Memorial race. Hirsch started strong with the smack when he wasn't in the race but now is hiding behind his girlfriend and his dog...

We have yet to fully kick the kegs (yes, plural) in any prior AmZof post race festivities.
I know Chris G took that as a personal affront on more than 1 occasion, and made a valiant effort to remedy that.

So - long answer short, you really don't need to bring beer to AmZof.

If anybody wants to volunteer to bring 1 of the 2 non-beer makings for Car Bombs (ie - Jameson, and Baileys) that would be appreciated by all.

I'll bring a bottle of Jameson and figure the 1'st glass will be poured shortly after finishing, in my Mug with a burger in the other hand..... I'll make sure I save you a glass as you come through for your 3'rd run.

I'll have one ready for Zach as well.........

Have you seen my girlfriend, you would want to hide behind her too, its a nice view :0

Also I am giving up a title to race up, I won SC last year.

In boxing/MMA terms I am giving up a belt to race in a different weight class (LC) and I am taking the fight on short notice! Plus who doesn't want Tetsuoni's money!

The streets will flow with the blood of those who don't believe in John Hirsch's powers. I thought I was good until I challenged him in a single hill climb. I died 12 times in half a mile.

The group we're discussing isn't an age-group. Age group awards are silly, we're talking overall.

There's beer at this thing? Man, did I pick the right year to start drinking beer. Tetsuoni, I prefer porters and stouts, and keep in mind I'm the one telling ML to stop with the fat jokes because it hurts your feelings.

ML, I'm going to stay 10 meters behind you for as long as I can. That may be crazy, but letting the winner go in a race because you're worried about what may occur in 3 hours is for donut punchers.

Shoot, I hope that doesn't gross timberdick out.

That sounds about right.
Last year, I rolled into T3 @ 2:45, which ended up virtually winning the Canadian Womens race, while going on to take care of bidness in the F1.

You don't wanna get virtually smacked down like that.
So please go faster than 2:45.

This has been a public service announcement.

I am going to go 220, 221, whatever it takes.

"The course record is about 2:37, by a now pro. I think a 2:45 stands a strong chance of winning SC, but not guaranteed. If I was going to pick an over/under I would go with 2:46."

I would put the over/under on the number of F1 people who get to the end of leg 3 in under 2:46 at 3, so you'd better giddy-up if you want to make the virtual SC podium.

I was at 2:55 or so last year through T3, and I was at least several minutes ahead of you. I realize you had a flat tire, but you aren't going to be under 2:46, probably not even under 2:50.
If you actually go under 2:46, you will either continue on to win the race (not likely), or you will take an hour to finish the last run.

37 run
1 T1
90 bike
1 T2
37 run

2:46

On paper these splits don't look too hard, but if you have actually done the course, none of these is easy (okay 1 minute transitions is kind of loafing for AZ). Now lets finish the race.

1 T3
96 bike
1 T4
41 run

= 5:05. You probably win the race or come damn close.

Unfortunately since the timer complete shit the bed last year, so we can't just look at the numbers.

I am still sticking with 2:46 for the SC, because the competition is not as strong.

Go look on the thread where I posted what the winning times would be for Battenkill and then go look at the race results.

I agree with the assessment that the pre-race smack talk is cool. I wish I had something clever to add, but it just ain't happening at the moment. Maybe if I down a few beverages (later) the creativity bug will bite me.

I'm racing the LC for my first time ever this year. A few of us will be doing some recon (run + ride) on the course this Saturday. Hopefully we'll see a few of you out there.

This thread has got me worried - mostly about whether or not I'm going to miss the best beer consumption times while I'm racing. I will bring some auxilary consumables just in case.

If you see a sad sack of crap meandering around the course on a black and white C'dale Synapse w/ shorties, that would be me.

having never done this race before..... wtf kind of shape do you have to be in to hit 37-90-37 short course? Aka... what kind of shape do you have to be in to be in contention?

If you have to ask - better shape than you are in.

To be fair, you also predicted you'd beat me by 10 minutes in the F1 last year and ended up 17 minutes back even though I had a flat. I'm in way better shape this year for both running and cycling.

We shall see, but I'll be pretty surprised not to be under 2:50@T3.

I thought it was 2:46? Backpedaling already;)

If you want to go out and call a 5:05, don't let me stop you.

I would say at least 4 W/kg on the bike and 1:20 for an open HM type shape. That should at least put you around 2:50 if you pace properly.

First off, nobody even splits the runs. Nobody.
Well - I guess you could totally sandbag the first run to attempt to do so, but then you're leaving time on the table.

So, plan on a 1-2 min + delta between runs 1&2.

37 is kinda slow for run 1. In any distance at AmZof.
Just sayin.

if you really want to fit in with most of this crowd (present company excluded), you'll eat your pint of rocky road and then go for an 8 mile run out of guilt. it's a tough brick workout to be sure.

now...for the more festivally plump athlete's such as myself...i'd do the 8 mile run and eat the pint afterward guilt free. hell...i'd eat the pint guilt free without the run as well.

yeah I have no delusions/plans to even split.. going out hard and gracefully dying at some point later in the race is probably the "strategy"

My one advantage going into the race is that I go to grad school with an abundance of Canadian women. So I feel right at home in their division.......

I can't speak about anybody elses splits, cuz I didn't have a watch to compare them to.
But - my first and last R splits are each off by about 1 minute:
First 1 is a minute slow (I went <:35, not <:36) and the last one was fast (actual was :43, not :42).
Total was close enuff. That's all that actually matters.
