AirHUB - Auto resistance front hub
Saw this on the wattage forum:
The new AIRhub will revolutionise cycling training programs. The AIRhub lets you train with friends, family or the bunch as you all cycle at the same speed, while maintaining your individualised resistance level. Using real time metabolic feedback the AIRhub automatically regulates loads to keep you in the perfect training zone at all times.

Pretty cool tech that I would love to have for slower group rides to move that IF from 0.4-0.5 to 0.75. Would also make the partner rides bearable. 2200 puts it out of play for me, but hopefully a dumb option comes along where you can just dial in 0-100w in 10w increments pre ride... handicap system.

This is a great idea IMO... but damn is it pricey. Where I live it's not really safe to ride on the roads (central florida: tourists, old people, and young people texting while seeding) however pretty close to my home there are miles upon miles of sidewalks that nobody uses. It would be nice to go slow enough to use those but still get a good workout in. Likewise where my parents live there's a very scenic bike trail along the intracoastal but there's a speed limit of 15mph and the cops actually enforce it :/

I must be too old school, because this sounds like a terrible idea. Who wants to go slow on a bike? This would take all the fun out of exercise.

Cool but stupid expensive. For 2200$ you can buy a sweet MTB and ride it with your slower friends, that'll give you 100 watts to work with no problem.

Can you dumb this down for me? I don't think I'm understanding what it does. I am not very mechanically inclined so this is foreign to me

Funny that "ultralight" is one of the selling points.

I get the idea, I just don't see much of a market for it. I have a hard time seeing it catch on.

Why don't you just adjust your brakes to rub. Hell of a lot cheaper than $2200.
