"Updated" my Garmin 705 with v3.3 and now Speed and Distance is off by 20%

So I downloaded firmware v3.3 for my 705 and now speed and distance is way off. I rode one of my standard routes today that I know is 69.3 miles. The 705 showed 56.6 miles. The 705 is pared with a PT SL+ hub. Power seems to be fine.

Wheel size is set to automatic. I do not have a magnet as I rely on the GPS to take care of distance and speed. I have also turned off the cadence sensor.

I read in the Garmin forum that people have gone back to v3.1 to correct this problem. Garmin does not recommend to use down rev firmware as it might cause other problems.

Anyone else with this problem? How did you fix it? I have tried to load v3.1 but can't figure out how to do it.

Lastly I think it is absolutely ridiculous that Garmin has not fixed this yet. What a joke!

I have 2 705's (his n hers) and they came stock as 3.0 (his) and 3.1 (hers).
I upgraded both to 3.2 when it was released.

His bricked immediately (black screen, no response to any inputs), hers worked fine as 3.2.
His was returned to Garmin and replaced with a new unit running 3.1.
Hers was immediately downdated to 3.1. Had to use the wall charger (not USB cable) to go from 3.2 to 3.1.
Since then 3.2 was recalled and replaced with 3.3 as update option.
Both units stable since then using 3.1.

Haven't bothered with 3.3.
It ain't broke.
I ain't fixin'.

How did you install 3.1? Feel a bit stupid but I can't figure it out.
