Seems that the bibs always appear a couple of days after they say. I don't get that.

MEDICAL INFORMATION

LATE FINISHERS - if you finisht the race after 4pm, please be aware that there will only be a skeleton medical staff on stand-by at the medical tent.

Late finishers??? 4pm is what - a 9 hour IM? So anybody past 9 hours (99% of the field) is considered a late finisher, and gets a skeleton staff!!!

saw at least three references to 70.3s maybe that is what they mean.

Yeah, looks like a bad cut and paste job. For those doing their first IM, there are a lot of potential "freak out" sections in that athletes guide, especially where it comes to times.

Its kinda funny. I did LP for the first time last year. I'm seeing a lot of the same kind of posts being posted now as they were about this time last year. Same issues with that Athlete's guide (funny how the same Idaho reference has not been corrected). All the things I was freaked out about coming to light for new first time IM'ers. Kind of glad to be on this side this year.

Seriously folks...don't take this the wrong way. Everything will be fine.

I thought the same thing when reading it over, including the note that pro women are starting at 6:25. That's not true this year, is it?

No pro women at this year's race. Pro men.

Ya...we cut up IM NA pretty good here. But on race day, they do deliver.

How about...

THE BIKE COURSE WILL CLOSE AT 5:30PM. Cyclist still on the course after 1:00pm will be dis-qualified.

It's just all kind of funny to me.. However, if this were my first and I wasn't a ST regular... Training on my own, without many experienced IM friends... this type of mis-information could potentially scare the crap out of someone.

1pm, eh? So let's say I do a slow 1:30 swim, that leaves me 4.5hours for the bike. Crap - I'd better start riding more!

You know, this Ironman stuff really is as tough as they all say it is!!!

Yep...I understand. Just kind of funny to be on this side of the fence and seeing the same kind of questions come up that I had last year.

True - the lack of information from the website could really scare the crap out of someone who didn't have access to any other info.

I remember how freaked out my wife was three years ago before her first IM, because if you depend strictly on what comes from the organizers, it really does seem like a huge mystery. We weren't on ST then, so there were SO MANY unknowns heading into it - but then again, it's kind of fun that way too. We got to Placid for IM week and just went WOW!!! Everything was new to us, ebcause we hadn't heard about it anywhere else.

Your first IM should be a WOW experience. In a way, ST can ruin that experience for people doing their first IM, because you can get so much information here that it it already feels like you've done it.

And you can also end up on a training weekend like the Iron Tour and that will really take the WOW out of you. j/k Dev!

You have to bring $475.00 in cash if you expect to qualify for Kona?

No credit cards accepted?

Interesting that they can't figure that out.

MC and Visa want 2%. IMNA and WTC are just trying to save you a 10% entry fee increase. :-)
