A friend asked which races were considered "classics" in the sport of triathlon.

Other than WTC events....here's what I came up with -

Escape from Alcatraz

Chicago

St. Anthony's



Which 1/2 IM's (and other distances) would you include in the classics" list?

I think NYC is a great race.

Wildflower.

I haven't done either one of these races.

While not a classic, it is by far the most emotional event you can do.. The San Diego Triathlon Challenge put on by the Challenged Athletes' Foundation (www.challengedathletes.org)..

Another classic is the ORIGINAL Alcatraz run by Envirosports..

I second Powerman Zofingen.

Survival of the Shawangunks. Gorgeous course, and uniquely challenging.
