Garmin Edge w/BTB bottle??
I'd like to use a Garmin Edge 540 on mt tri bike. I like using a basic BTB setup (profile design HC) with a regular bottle (not refillable).

I am finding that having the edge mounted centered, even towards the end of the extensions (zipp vuka evo 110), gets in the way of me removing the bottle from the cage. I guess it wouldn't be an issue if I use a refillable torpedo that doesn't need to move, but I prefer using regular bottles...

Am I missing something? Or is it just a no go?

Edit - I am just using a generic bottle cage mounted onto the profile design HC mount. Should I be looking for a cage that the garmin can attach to, instead of putting the garmin on the extensions??

Sorry, new to garmin bike computers....

Tririg has this that would let you mount the computer from behind the bottle. https://tririg.com/products/polymount

I bought one, but it did not work for me. I prefer my Garmin 540 extended forward, in front of the bottle, and it is not long enough for that. So, I bought some carbon fiber stock from Amazon (15mm x 3mm stick) and made my own extension that sandwiches between the bottle cage and mount. It extends forward, and I screwed a Zipp Vuka mount stick to that for the computer. Works great for me.

Thanks. Again, new to using a bike computer (always just used a watch) and had only been searching for BTB attachments. I think something like an Xlab Kompact 100 or 500 might do the trick. :)

Can you upload a picture of your setup?
Would make suggestions much easier!

Yup, I think that (or one of the Kompact variety) is exactly what I need..

Ok, that helps!
Can you mount the bottle further back? Closer to your chest?
Should get you even some aero gains. 😉
Maybe using one of the relocation brackets?

Then there would be enough room to put the Garmin in front of the bottle without it interfering with the bottle in/out.
I’m a big fan of the 76Projects mounts.

On that one I used one of the brackets.
Fits a large bottle without any issues.

Here's my custom thing. It gets the computer high and out in front of the bottle so it is easy to see. This is super easy to create, but you would need to source the stich mount that elevates it. Otherwise you could screw one of the many quarter-turn mounts directly to the carbon fiber stick.

Agree 76 Projects it the way to go. I had the Profile Designs cage and garmin mount. Stopped using it because one: the cage is crap and ejects your bottles randomly (yes you can swap the cage out for a better one) and two; the mount for the computer has you looking straight down rather than up. I much prefer the 76 project setup where you can look straight ahead and see your data without taking your eyes off the road. It's not only safer but more natural. Staring down at something in that angle is quite unnatural.

Thx, will see if I can mount it further back, but not sure its possible.
Agree with others that I'd rather be able to see it in front of me, than looking down at it.
But if not, I'll get one of the ones mentioned above that has the garmin sit on top of the bottle cage.
Cheers.

Kinda what I was looking for, but man, that thing is way overpriced. $60 for what looks like it costs $3 to make!

Bumping to suggest this. Before I had a custom solution I used 76 Project mounts on multiple setups for me and others. They are fantastic and reliable. I'd rate them above the other proposed solutions.
