Xtri Oravaman - bike and shoe choice
I'm not finding many reviews of the bike and run course.

I assume for the bike, a road bike would be best (vs TT bike) given the amount of climbing.

For the run, how rough is the surface? Do I need a trail shoe or would a fast road shoe with some lugs be sufficient? My Deviate Nitro 2 are fast on pavement but have lugs that are deeper than any other "fast" shoe I've had. Would this be sufficient for the rougher sections on the course?

If you’re on Facebook find the Global Xtri forum and join. You’ll find someone who has raced there and possibly the race organiser, or member of the crew, will answer.

I know people who have raced most races but not actually that one. DM me if you want any further info

I loaded the GPX file off the race site into RidewithGPS to inspect. Yeah, there's climbing and some moments at 12% but there's also a ton of straight flat and false flat miles. I would 100% guide my atheles to ride this on a tri bike. The real factors to consider are gearing to save legs of what's gonna be a tough run and the "self supported" aspect of the ride.

Thanks for the tip. Do you have a link to the FB group? I can't find it.

Thanks, will need to look into this some more then. I saw videos and the total vertical meters, and assumed road bike was the way to go on this one.

See if this one works-

A lot of the Xtris are ok on TT bikes and from the one race film I saw there seemed to be people using them. Better to check though with someone who’s raced!
