The Duathlete's Holiday Gift Guide 2023
Anyone got any other ideas to add to this list? Looking for running or cycling gift ideas for myself or others.
  • $285 Nike.com Gift Card: buy for your favorite duathlete and tell them to wait til January when the Alphafly 3s come out
  • Latex tubes: saves 2-5 Watts per tire at 30mph. Not that I'm usually going that fast!
  • Continental Grand Prix 5000s: seem to be the road tire of choice for many pros who get to choose their own tire (no tire sponsor)
  • Aero leg sleeve: Velotoze appears to be the most affordable legit brand in this category currently at $28
  • Race number belt: one of the thin ones. No gel storage because I assume the duathlete will opt for on/in bike storage of those.
  • Garmin Forerunner® 255 appears to be the most affordable Garmin watch with a duathlon preset. Anyone know about Coros, which is their most basic model w/ that mode OR a ‘customize your own multisport’ option?

Go with a Saucony gift card.

Some barbells. (duathletes make triathletes look buff :))

Airline/hotel gift card - duathlons are getting harder to find.

Oakley EVZero sunglasses (choice of styles/colors): lightweight, well ventilated, no frame (so you can see in aero). They are my gotos for running and for being in the aerobars.

Stryd footpod (best way to get real time running pace)

Swiftwick Aspire socks

Swimming lessons

ECMGN Therapy Silicon Valley:
Depression, Neurocognitive problems, Dementias (Testing and Evaluation), Trauma and PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

Am I the only one who doesn't like to receive triathlon equipment related gifts (except if they are Enve wheels)? i) because I already have most of what I need, ii) because I'm a brat and too picky :) (I wouldn't use any of the gifts on that list).

I personally would rather get "training adjacent" stuff on which I generally don't splurge:

Massage
Top of the line bike fit
Professional bike tune-up
A week-end morning babysitting
Physiology testing (Vo2, lactate, inside tracker, etc.)
Gym pass, personal training sessions
Hotel gift card so I can upgrade instead of picking the cheapest motel / Nice post-race diner gift card

Massage, bike fit, testing, and other 'training adjacent' ideas are great. Hadn't thought of that 'services' angle. Good for the athlete who has everything already.
