Lawyer for warranty issues. Does anyone have refs?
We bought a treadmill that was advertised to work with Zwift and it did for about 2 months. It then stopped, the repair person sent out was unable to repair it and now the manufacturer is claiming that it’s not a supported feature. Notably it also has built in Bluetooth speakers that also don’t work so it neither sends or receives Bluetooth. The treadmill was only a bit over $1000 and we think that they are counting on also saying that it would cost more to fight than the machine is worth. Possibly true but that’s also what allows them to get away with saying that they won’t warranty something. The machine also became noisier and less stable after the failed repair attempt. It’s now been 4+ months since they have done anything on it. Suggestions?

I suggest starting with the warranty and seeing what terms are covered there. I'm not a lawyer, but if they advertised as it working with Strava and it did when you bought it, then it would come down to warranty coverage. I'm assuming they give themselves the option to discontinue support for third-party integrations. The bluetooth seems like more of a straight forward warranty issue assuming the coverage includes it. This one may be worth paying an attorney a few hundred bucks to write a lawyer letter to them. Beyond that, it will be up to you to see if the expense of litigation is worth it. If it's a popular machine and this is a common issue (meaning there are more than a few people with the same bluetooth issue), you may be able to go the class action route.

Don't know where you are, but here in Ontario, a similar dispute would cost you a lot more in legal fees than $1,000. There is a small claims court for situations like this, maybe there is something similar in your area? Here it is easy to file stuff yourself, but apparently it takes years for the case to go through.

Lawyer here. Not worth a lawyer over $1000. You should contact manufacturer, wholesaler, and/or retailer. Try the Better Business Bureau or other possibilities including Attorney General consumer complaints department. Be professionally persistent and stay after it. Debit cards provide little/no protection. Class actions would be if 100,000 are similarly situated. Small claims court is a possibility and might get their attention - that is sort of like the "peoples court" and usually has to be done in the county where the defendant is located. There is usually an automatic right to an appeal which could get you in over your head quite quickly. I think that exhausts everything currently listed in this thread.

What country?
Saul Goodman could assist you in the states but if you’re elsewhere make a complaint to fair trading or some ombudsman body - works every time
Not worth paying for lawyers fees over this (imo)

Retired lawyer here. As others have said not worth it. Only thing I haven’t seen mentioned it to start blasting their social media accounts. Sometimes that gets their attention.

In the UK we have small claims court where differences like this can be resolved easily, cheaply and quickly. Having said that they are not always the best and don't always rule in your favour. Nevertheless you should have something similar in the US? A quick trawl on Wiki reveals there is something?
