Need Wrenching Support - Bike sounds like a flock of birds!
Hello everyone,

I need some assistance troubleshooting my 10 speed Shimano Tri bike. In short, the chain has a high pitched squeak when I'm in the lower cogs. It sounds like a flock of birds chirping. While pedaling, if I gently pull up on the shifter and reduce the tension, the squeaking goes away. The squeaking does not happen while in the higher cogs.

I've lubed the chain and tuned the index shifting In fact, the bike shifts great. I'll also point out that, when I had the bike on my Kickr, with the same cassette, the same squeaking persists.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

My quick-and-dirty guesses would be one of the three in no particular order…
  • Derailleur pulley bearing
  • Derailleur cage bearing
  • Chain
