Got my Q-rings today...now what?
I am giddy with anticipation but alas work will keep me tied up until after dark tonight....

One question for Gary/folks that have used Q-rings? I am set up on a road bike tricked out to run @ about 78.5 seat angle....is #3 still the best starting point for me or should I consider #4 since I am set up fairly far forward??

Thanks,

Paul

I ride pretty far forward on my road bike and have my Q rings at the #3 setting and quickly decide that being set up at #4 would be even better, so that's next. I would go straight to #4 if I were you.

I have Q rings too and absolutely love them. I started out at #3 and I have what sounds like a very similar position as you (very forward, aggressive road position). I used the #3 for a few weeks , then did that test that Gary suggests and have now switched to #4. Even more pronounced effects!!! No discernable dead spot, foot is on the gas at all times.....Very cool feeling.

I would say try the #3 just to get the sense of Q rings and then switch to #4.

Thanks folks! Any thoughts on why one might set up the small and big ring on different orientation #'s??

Question: Are Q rings offset like the Rotor or are they oval -- what exactly are they supposed to do? For years I had offset rings (called Equalizer) like the Rotor to help my weak leg come over faster. Now I compact cranks. Thanks for your help.

Set them to the #3 OCP position at first, switching to the #4 is a five to ten minute job should you decide later to switch. After one or two rides, try the #4 position for the outer ring.

Keep the inner ring on #3, or try #2 if using the inner ring primarily on a Computrainer, switching the inner ring to #3 when you move to the road. Based on our in house testing, #3 on the inner makes the most sense since you primarily will be climbing (not in the aerobars) with that gear and likely will not be in the aero position. If you are in the inner ring riding in the aerobars often, you may want to try #4 on the inner, however I suggest #3.

So when in the forward aero position and on the big ring, the #4 setting can be used.
