preventing sunglasses from sliding down nose?
i bought a pair of oakley dartboards (rimless) so i can see while my head is tucked aerodynamically. the problem now is that when i sweat the sunglasses slide down on my nose defeating the purpose of wearing sunglasses (blocking glare and wind)!

anyone have any good tips?

thanks,

c

rhinoplasty!

if you weren't wearing sunblock, I can only imagine that the problem will get worse when you do wear it.

kinda sounds like they don't fit your nose. wish i had a tip for you.

Nope, just horizontally endowed. Come to think of it, I am vertically challenged, though.

M frames are the best. I can see fine through mine. Just how low is your head ?

Elmers Glue. Put a little bit on the frame where it touches your nose before the race. It'll tack up a bit and when you come out of the water wet, it'll make them stick. But not too much, it's only elmer's.

The glasses probably don't fit you right. Not every glass fits everyone. Can you return them?

Just ride faster - the air pressure will keep 'em on :)

Seriously, I tried the Dartboards as well as I really like Oakley glasses and they just didn't work for me. A little like the bike thing - if it doesn't fit right, it doesn't matter much how cool or fast it looks - it still has to work first.

busting balls. I think the glue would dry and actually make them more slick.

Tifosi makes some glasses that don't slip and have coverage high enough that you can use them in aero. That's a serious answer.

Can you get a croakie to hold them tighter in place?

Get "Croakies" (I think that is the name of the company) - they hold your sunglasses in place. They sell them at Sports Authority.

Those probably aren't the right frames for what you want them to do. Look for anything with hydrophilic stems and nosepiece; I had a pair of the old Zeros, and even after I had been sweating all day, they wouldn't move. Tifosi claims to have something similar, but the pair I've got don't stay in place nearly as well as the Oakleys. The Tifosi lenses also scratch if you look at them wrong. Check out the new Zeros: http://oakley.com/o/o1233d. The only reason I didn't buy them is that I don't like the new design.

A serious answer for you: you can usually put adhesive "nose pads" on them. These come in either silicone or felt pads. I have found the silicone ones come loose with heavy sweat and use the felt pads. They look a tad dorky, but they work. You can find these items in "optical" section of a drug store.

croakies or similar, there are lots of different retainer systems out there. The original croakies don't work on these silly new slimline earpieces that wrap around the skull instead of the ears, so maybe try these:
http://www.croakies.com/eyewearretainers/eyewearsport/reax/default.htm

I have prescription sunglasses, once had to dive out of the way of a car while running, and the glasses went flying, spent half an hour on hands and knees searching the ditch..
I've never ridden without a retainer. The last two times kayaking without a retainer resulted in one pair of sunglasses swimming with the red drum off N. Carolina, the other with the zacharana in the Agean..

"It is a good feeling for old men who have begun to fear failure, any sort of failure, to set a schedule for exercise and stick to it. If an aging man can run a distance of three miles, for instance, he knows that whatever his other failures may be, he is not completely wasted away." Romain Gary, SI interview
