Tririg Alpha one aero bars not staying put
Quote | Reply
I searched the forum and found info about the mono post slipping but nothing the aero bars them selves rotating downward

Maybe I missed it?

Used them for years never had a problem. Now 2 races in a row they angled down within a few miles over rough roads

Made the next 50 miles of racing interesting to say the least

Anyone else?

Suggested solutions?

Are you saying the dragonfly is rotating forward? Like in the way you would adjust the tilt angle? Have never heard of that being an issue but if the two tilt washer bolts aren't tightened up properly it could certainly happen. Have you checked torque on them?

Yes the tilt washer bolts. First time tightened to 8nm. Second time to 10 nm.
As I say never had a problem before

Love the bars. Actually just ordered a set for another bike

tightened before both races

Maybe try something like lock tight?

When you go back to tighten them after slipping does it feel like the bolts themselves have shimmied loose or the dragonfly is just rotating despite the torque staying. Also, do you have the original carbon monopost or the aluminum one that has been included with them for a few years now?

Not used those bars, but had a nightmare of similar issues with my E-114 bars. After trying few things, combination of assembly paste and locktite blue on the bolt threads finally sorted it and I've not needed to touch for last 5 years.

Long time Alpha One user here... I had this issue after several hundred miles, and a couple of races. The solution for me was to use Loctite Blue on the two top bolts that go down into the monopost. Mine haven't budged since.

100% of my training is indoors

I have only done one race this year

The roads were good and no big bumps

So not a great test

But so far no problems

But I do pack an allen wench when I race just in case

those bars don't have as much tilt as you would think, I suspect most peoples problem is that they are tilting them too far and the angles just get weird and it jiggles loose.
