A bad bike idea

Unbelievable. iPod mount for the bike. Reading the 'disclaimer' under the 'listen responsibly' tab is just silly.

At the bike tour before the LA Marathon a couple of weeks ago, the sponsor (Acrura) gave out little velcro holsters "to hold your cell phone or iPod during the ride."

What a dumb idea. I'm sure they didn't run it past their lawyers.

By the way, that ride is one of the most dangerous I've ever been on. Crowded with people who have no idea what they're doing. But my daughter loves it. So we do it.

Also illegal in many areas. Personally, in low traffic areas where this could be potentially safely used, I love listening to the natural sounds and the quiet whirring of my bikes drivetrain. No need for extra distractions.

We could kill it. Just have Slowman offer them a pop-under ad.

At least she's wearing a helmet.

Damn, that is stupid. It's much better to drop the IPod into a jersey pocket.

If one would be looking for alternatives where to place an mp3 while riding, one should never forget the most obvious place:

All the empty space between both ears!

I ride now with an MP3 player and think it is great for riding on rural roads. I would not want to race with one or use it in group rides. I can still here cars coming up behind albeit not as soon as before. It still would not make a bit of difference as I never respond to traffic behind any way. If one is that concerned about getting hit a mirror on the helmet would be better and more effective in safety than looking behind you everytime you here a car.

That being said I would not want to ride in towns or busy areas with one around intersections etc but out in the country roads let the music roll. If you are going to get hit I do not see the music making a bit of beans difference.
