I like it! But...

...it's a bit slow. I could get the 1000+ messages from the old forum to load faster than it takes to expand a single thread.

That being said, I do like the ability to expand threads individually or collectively.

And, Gerard's ad is hilarious.

Although if there is a bike out there that could fit a four foot tall individual with 18 inch legs and knuckles that drag on the ground, it is probably a P2K.

It does seem slower loading a message but the navigation and visual aids for new, unread, and read messages make up for the slow load. The Search feature should also speed up researching ideas presented on older threads (could you even search on the other forum?).

The old one took so long to get back to the main page all the time. But both are fast enough, a bit of waiting helps the reflectory process.

And will defintely be a factor in improving my bike splits next year. :)

Well... with all the added functionality, finding important info will be easier... which *should* make me better informed... which *should* make me faster! And let's not forget the reduced drag factor due to forced authentication (fewer trolls)...

we're going to dump a lot of the current bells and whistles. the ability to delete a message is going bye bye, as well as a variety of other things. only the stuff that's necessary will stay.

No way it is slower for me. On the old forum, it took me 200 mouse clicks/page loads to read 100 messages in 10 threads.

I would read the message, click the back button to return to the index, then click the next message. Thus it was effectively 2 mouse clicks/page loads per message. (Although returning to the index was very fast, since it was cached.) This method of navigation was the only was I found to ensure the links were colored as previously read.

On this forum, I can read 100 messages in 10 threads with just 10 mouse clicks/page loads! I start at the oldest thread with NEW messages, and simply keep clicking "Previous".

It is indisputable that one can read all the messages in this format with less effort and time than the previous forum.

Looks like the codes issue is not resolved yet, from my previous message.

FWIW, I am using IE v 5.00 on a Win2000 box. My User Display Profile is set to use the basic editor. Although the editor window does have controls for code, reply, quote, b, U, i, email, url.
