Pools & bike shops in Orlando?
I will be down in Orlando for 5 days (Dec 30- Jan 4) and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good bike shop and places to swim in the area. I'm planning on riding the 70.3 Florida course and the Great Floridian as well, but would like to find some pools for swimming. Is there a 50m in that area?

Thanks!

Orlando is kind of spread out. Depending on where you are staying will determine which pool is best. If you are near Clermont there is the NTC, if you are down near the attractions there is the YMCA aquatic center (one of 18-20 Y's in the orlando area), If you are more north there is a 50 meter pool at Lake Brantley.

When I lived in Orlando I liked Loco Motion in Winter Park, but there are lots of good shops around.

Thanks! I'm staying near Universal, but I will have a car to drive if there isn't any pool around there.

The YMCA acquatic center is definitely the closest to Universal studios, it is located on International drive. It has a pools that is 50 m by 25 yards. It is set up SCY more often than LCM. It is a nice pool.

The NTC in Clermont would not be difficult to get to. Universal studios is right on the Turnpike and you could probably get there in ~20 min plus about a dollar in tolls. It has been awhile since I drove that section of the Turnpike so my 20 min estimate may be a little off, but it is not a bad drive.

Thanks so much ;-) I just found the YMCA you are talking about and will check it out. I've been to the NTC pool before and you are right it's not too far either, just going to check if they will be open this weekend.

FWIW there are usually a lot of college teams doing their holiday break winter training at the Y pool right now.

I live in Orlando and I use the Aquatic Center, they have a good set-up, also for a bike shop, there is Loco-Motion on Fairbanks Ave. and also Orange Cycle off of Edgewater Drive.

Man, I'm going to be there the first week of Feb. Staying at the Universal Hotel just 2 miles away. Guess I gotta try the Lake Cane Swim. I'll just walk over for the 6:30am swim. Thanks for the info.
