I was just guessing. I don’t know who Charlie Rose is.
Even if that were true, which I doubt, the point still stands.

Why must you insist that I know who this guy is?

Half of the people in this thread have never heard of him.

Something that I have learned along the way that has become especially apparent in the last couple of weeks is that those who speak the loudest about how women should be protected and promoted and the ones we should watch out for the most.

It doesn’t really surprise anyone when an anti-gay politician is found to be having gay sex in secret. It doesn’t surprise me when a person promotes “womens’ rights” and loudly decrys “rape culture” who his a misogynistic fuck head in secret (and apparently sometimes not so secret).

I worked for a photographer back in the early 90s who once read me the riot act after I showed him some photos I had made of a chick that he deemed to be “degrading to women”. The photos were sexy but not even close to porn. He was really pissed at me for it.

A couple years ago I found out that he’s serving 25 years in prison for a violent rape.

And low and behold, I google Charlie Rose and find this statement....

Quote:
“In my 45 years in journalism, I have prided myself on being an advocate for the careers of the women with whom I have worked,” Rose said in a statement provided to The Post.

An advocate for women who assaults women....

Yes.

No. In my defence I couldn't name any American news anchors other than Tom Brokaw or Walter Cronkite and I'm pretty sure both of them are long gone from the US media.

NBC brought Brokaw out of mothballs for last year's election night coverage. He sounded raspy and old. ;-)

I'm not sure how any of that addresses my point of you trying to score political points at every turn. Seems to me your point above is that there are hypocrites on both sides of the political aisle, which supports my assertion that none of this should be political.

NPR has a show on during the day with a woman who sound like she barely has the energy to speak and sort of slurs everything. It's not Dick Clark bad, but still it's the talking version of the elderly person who can barely walk because they are so feeble. It's painful to listen to.

Yup. But I’m talking specifically about hypocrisy on the subject of how women are treated and viewed buy certain men.

And we can plainly see now that that hypocrisy is firmly (and almost exclusively) on left side of the political spectrum.

Just make yourself a list of who’s getting accused of treating like shit right now. You’ve got Roy Moore and Trump on the Republican side, and that’s pretty much it. And Roy Moore was actually a democrat when his alleged bad behavior went down :)

You keep saying that the politics of the perpetrators is unimportant. You couldn’t be more wrong. Their politics are part and parcel to the problem. Their politics is what had them getting away with it for so long because people on “their side” looked the other way.

The reason they looked the other way? Politics.

The NYT article linked to in the Ken Starr thread was about that specifically. The left and the media (I repeat myself) looked the other way in regard to Bill Clinton’s misogyny because of his political views.

As for me “always defending republicans”, you might want read more of my posts. I’m no republican. Not even close. It may seem like I’m picking on the left but what I’m really doing is commenting on current events.

You can’t really look at what’s going on right now and not pick on leftists. The wheels are coming off right before our eyes.

Well this post pretty much makes my point. You are completely blinkered if you think the hypocrisy is "almost exclusively" on the left.

Even Trump agrees with me:
http://thehill.com/...righteous-hypocrites

I agree with you that the left-wing media has for too long given Bill Clinton a pass, as this article asserts. But both sides are allowing partisan politics to warp their moral judgement. Look at the shift in narrative of KellyAnne Conway, who last week said "no Senate seat was worth more than a child," and now says "we want the votes for the tax bill." If that's not blatant hypocricy, I'm not sure what is.

Dennis Hastert was one of the more vocal critics of Bill Clinton. Now we learn he made secret hush payments to victims of his own sexual assaults. Hypocrite.

The allegations against HW Bush were derided by Fox News as being a weak attempt by the left to smear a Republican, and yet there are now 6 women claiming to have been sexually assaulted by him. Fox: the same media source deriding the left's protection of Bill Clinton. More hypocrisy.

Your criticism of the left wing media has merit. But you are kidding yourself if you think there isn't plenty of blame on both sides. But believe what you choose to believe.

Why do you even pretend not to be a Trump ball washer? All you ever do is defend Republicans and look for any opportunity to throw a liberal under the bus.

I find that odd too.

Lots of people have done absolutely nothing but defend every single thing Trump has done but then go out of their way to appear not to be a Trump supporters. It's very strange. They support Trump but don't want to be seen as supporting him and I don't get it either.

I'm curious how these things are coming out particularly when they start out with things like "8 women have accused Rose of sexual harassment."
I assume that one woman contacts the paper and they then pursue leads and talk to different women until they have a number willing to come forward and to corroborate the initial story.

Read the story:

Quote:
Rumors about Rose’s behavior have circulated for years. One of the authors of this report, Outlook contributing writer Irin Carmon, first heard and attempted to report on the allegations involving two of the women while she was a journalist at Jezebel in 2010 but was unable to confirm them. In the past several weeks in the wake of accusations against Harvey Weinstein, Carmon and Post investigative reporter Amy Brittain jointly began contacting dozens of men and women who had worked on the “Charlie Rose” show or interviewed for jobs there.

It is hard for people to believe that there are still reporters in the world. Someone hears the stories and starts digging. In the land of actual journalism you don't break the story until you have more. So you don't come out with a rumor. You come out when you have several on record, even better if they are named but it isn't always a requirement.

I'm beginning to think that we are much more fucked than I thought.

Regrettably, this is like a blessing in disguise for both CBS and PBS. Charlie Rose is a million years old and needed to be put out to pasture at any moment anyway. He gets to go through his entire leftist career and then be ushered out at the end. Kind of sad if he really was such a terrible harasser.

I don't like Charlie Rose, but I'm not sure he's a "career is immediately over" level of female harasser. But like I said in another thread, entertainers and businessmen are much more vulnerable to the mob than politicians. So this is what we get.

What’s odd is that I have expressed disagreement with Trump’s detractors when I think they are wrong and I have also expressed disagreement with Trump when I think he’s wrong (I’ve actually started at least half a dozen threads expressing my disagreemente with Trump), and despite all that I get labeled as someone who has “done absolutely nothing but defend every single thing Trump has done”.

Yeah, that’s actually what is very strange. Very very strange.

Lots of people? I'd say two people maybe three will defend Trump. No one defends every single thing.

You're clearly suffering from TDS.
