recovery after hip pinning surgery
Anyone been through this?
My main question is how does one guage how much weight to put on the injured leg during rehab.
I had surgery 12 weeks ago.
I can walk with a single cane but nervous about overdoing it.

I see quite a few patients following hip pinning for therapy. At 12 weeks, you should start weaning off of the cane.
Necessary disclaimer: Talk with your surgeon about his expected timeline as well as your goals regarding sports.

Are you having PT currently? I would assume you are weight bearing as tolerated or full weight bearing by this stage.

The best advice is to talk with your doctor and/or therapist.

Thanks for your reply. I am up to around 80% weight bearing (albeit nervously). still getting used to the cane. I'm 66 so don't want to overdo anything . I do standard physio exercises and 20 min a day on a rowing machine but haven't got onto my exercise bike yet. surgeon says healing looks good. a colleague with similar injury had his leg broken a second time by his physio! makes one very nervous.
