Right - didn't they cancel this last year because of the heat/humitidy?

At Grand Columbian, will it be the half iron or the ITU distance that is part of the Grand Prix series?

No.
It was torrential downpours (which isn't that common). It could be 60F, it could be 100F. Or the same over the course of a weekend.

How about a boycott of USAT? Doesn't anyone want to put this sick dog out of it's misery?

Agreed. Ole Yeller had more focus and consistency and they shot him.

The Grand Columbian in Grand Coulee Washington is a great venue. Conditions in September should be ideal. Sunny, starting temp around 50 and topping out in the mid 60s, and no humidity would be the norm. I did the Iron distance there last year and absolutely loved it. Check out their website, it really gives you a good feel for the race.

Cheers

Thanks...we will have fun. But actually when I look at the races that make up the Grand Prix I think its a pretty impressive list, some very good races. I really hope to get to Australia as well. Hanslf...you applying? Due date is December 31st?

Not one race in California.

That's Pittsburgh with an "h". And there aren't any blast furnaces in Pittsburgh any more. You'd have to travel away from the city on the rivers to find any.

;)

I race duathlons and like it.

I got my reservation at the Coulee House a month or so ago so I'm committed. I'll probably sign up for the Iron distance again. Other than the GI issues that stayed with me for a week or two it was the most incredible experience of my life. I'll say it again, this is the perfect venue for a race. On the 112 mile bike I think I only saw a handfull of cars and the bike traffic was not congested. What a joy it was to put my head down, zone out and hammer away without having to worry about some yahoo stopping in the middle of the road. Every car that went by gave me a big Washington State hello wave. I'd love to see some of the guys I met in September step up to the long course from the half. It's 5 degrees below with snow on the ground and I'm already itching to go.

For me in NJ, not a one. A duathlon in April in DE (2 hrs away), a triathlon in late September in NY (2 hrs away), and the next closest appears to be ~300 miles away.

Add to that that my regional championship (Mid-Atlantic) for "triathlon" was awarded to a sold-out race...
