Powertap C1 compatibility with Shimano 105 5750 crank
Quote | Reply
Will a Shimano 105 FC-5750 work with an 11 speed cassette? The 5750 is listed as a 10speed, but being that I will be using the C1 in place of the cogs, will this work?

TIA

Your question more broadly asks whether a 10 speed chainring will work with an 11 speed RD/shifters and from what I've heard the answer is yes. More info here from Lennard Zinn: http://www.velonews.com/...compatibility_362722

Technically, I think I am asking if a set of crank arm and spider designed with a 10 speed chainring will work with an 11 speed chainring What little I know, the variance in 10 vs 11 speed chainrings is directly related to the distance between the two rings. If that is correct, then the 10 speed crankarms will work with my new 11 speed powertap C1.

I would buy a new Shimano FC-5800 crankset for $98 with free shipping.

The C1 comes mounted on FSA chainrings but they were never 11-speed always 10.

My C1s were easily mounted on my 105 FC-5750.

The 4-bolt spider of the 5800 not compatible with C1s though.

I have the c1 and use a shimano r500 crank. I believe the 5 bolt shimano 105 will also work. Go to PowerTap website to confirm.

Yes. That's the exact same setup I've been running the last two seasons. 105 5750 crank with 6800 group. Totally flawless.

Yes, the C1 will work fine with that crank, and on an 11-speed setup. One thing to watch out for is the gnarly bolts that stick out the back of the chainring. You'll really carve out your frame if not careful. I had to use several 24mm spindle spacers for the bikes I used it on.
