Trainer purchase

Ok my old Mag trainer has cacked itself. Is there a general consensus on what the best mid priced trainer is? Is there an advantage of the rim roller variety over the ones that touch the tires? Are the fluid ones better than Mags etc.

Thanks

I have this, it works fine for me. Not as expensive as a fluid trainer, but almost the same.

Take a serious look at the Minoura rim drive trainers. I sell them at my shop and ALL of my customers love not burning through tires. There are a few different types as with all manufactureres but well worth the cash. I spun on the one that I use for fittings during monday night football and the thing just hummed quietly. That is the RD-850. I've found that the remote switcher isn't really needed since you can reach the tension adjustment with your foot if you snap out of your pedal. Here is a link to the site:

The other nice thing is that you can use ANY bike with ANY tire and not worry about messing them up. Happy spinning!

I have a Minoura Rim Trainer. Not a bad concept. But WAY too loud for me. I prefer the low gurgle of a fluid trainer. Perhaps mine just sucks, but its just too loud.

Now that I know some of you guys look through the special needs bags for kicks, I'm gonna put some really weird stuff in mine. I can see it now.
