I am looking to do Florida in November. I have a question around cycling preparation, when commuting to work. I have no problem getting in a 100 mile ride on a Saturday, but with a commute to work, getting longer rides in during the week is a challenge. I do have a very long gradual hill very close to home that I could do repeats on and balance that with a long ride on the weekend, or would my time be better spent riding an exercise bike at the gym for a couple hours at a time during the week.

Do both. Use the commute as a warm up and then do some focused work on the turbo.

I do my long bikeride Tuesdays, cummuting from work -> home. Sometimes I leave early from work, but in Winter I also ride often in the dark.
My long run is Mondays commuting work-> home.
Keeps the weekend free.
